Car Photography

So I'm new to legitimate photography but I'm attempting to get into it and starting with some cool car shots is where I'm looking to begin. Is there a forum post on here where people discuss how to take some of the photos they are taking of their cars and the special effects they're applying to them? Thanks!

HDR - High Dynamic Range. HDR is usually achieved by blending multiple photos together to make all the colors you see pop. Some programs now adays "fake" it by just using one to achieve the same look. I for one don't really like HDR, its over done. But to each their own. Burton takes wonderful pictures and his main style is HDR (nothing wrong with that). Check out some of his posts and you'll see what they look like.

HDR can also be terribly done. Heck newer smart phones are even giving it as an option so ITS EVERYWHERE.

HDR is usually achieved by taking different photos of different exposures. If done properly it can make photo's look great.

example of HDR

The biggest part of photography is easily editing... You're gonna need a good copy of Photoshop. PM me and I may be able to help a fellow stang nut

A good camera can take you far but the real magic happens when you have a good editing software like lightroom or photoshop. I have the Adobe Creative Cloud suite which includes photoshop and lightroom for $10/month which I think is very reasonable.

Ooh la la on that photo Russ . Ooh la la indeed.

As for my photos, I do it all, Russ. Regular and HDR. I love them both.

I think Russ hit on the key points of HDR. The key is really the camera, the lens, the editing software, and of course the composition of the photo which ties into the skill of the photographer.

If I have to pick one from what you mentioned, the key to me is composition.

I have to agree with you there. However, with the advent in today's technology, even bad composition can be remedied by basic photo software suites.

Yeah composition can be fixed easily with cropping the photo lol.

A lot of people don't get that when you use a nice camera and when you try to go for that 1 awesome picture. You have also taken 60+ throw away images that are just pure crap.

When i was photographing snowboarders in vail, i took 1000+ a day lol. for what maybe 60 okay ones and a few ones that i really liked.

My cousin is the team photographer for the Pit. Penguins and other sports photography, he takes roughly 5000+ pictures a game haha. Heck there are times i go out and take some pics and don't get a single worthwhile picture.

Cropping is easy to do. I am talking about bad angles.

you get lightly used dslr camera on craiglist and then $10 lightroom is all it takes to be beginner. from there it is going to be journey of trial and errors. one thing if you enjoy it, this can take up most of your free time.

^ Mark what do you mean? Meaning the right photo is a basic cell phone pic, and the left is with edits via Instagram?

I like the right one more... lol.

p.s. I don't care for the subject, but hey....
