Brake wear

Brake wear
So the 2 month old 5.0 has been in the shop 3 times to have brake squeal looked at. Each time the shop says that they cant replicate the issue and I am starting to get really frustrated. So today after lunch I started looking at the rotor and ran my finger from the bottom edge to the top edge. About half an inch from the bottom edge there is a very noticable lip that has formed around the entire rotor. I went to the passenger rotor and checked that one and it was smooth all the way around. Could this lip be the reason why my brakes squeal when braking/driving/acceleration?

Keep an eye on that, squeal or not.
I have seen those develop into a big circle hump around the rotor.
I don't know what causes it, but it should not be that way.
The only lip should be where it belongs, outside the edges of the pads.

Yea I have another appointment to take it in again and this time I will point that out. Rotor problems after 2 months is kinda nuts, specially since I dont track it or AutoX.

Actually upon further inspection it is not a lip it is a gouge all the way around the rotor. I took it to a brake place and they said it is normal for ceramic pads to gouge lines into rotors which doesn't seem to make much sense. Wondering why I don't have a gouge on the passenger side.

Brembo package brakes have some pretty hard high metallic content compound pads. Always a chance of noise on pad compounds like that. Stand next to a road race track and you will hear lots of brake squeal.
As far as the ridge wear on the rotor, may be some trash got embedded in the pad or a especially hard area in the metal of the rotor.
If you get the dealer to replace the rotor, make **** sure they put new pads on too.

Did you check to make sure the dust shield is not rubbing on the rotor? That is one of the only ways your brakes will squeal when not using them. The other thing it may be is a small pebble got stuck between the rotor and the pads. That will make the gouge you are seeing and cause the squeal you are hearing.

yea I did, I just drove around my apartment complex at about 2mph and the squeaking was non stop, the more I listened the more it sounded like it was coming from the rear. The shield on the back of the rotor doesnt seem to be touching at all. Didnt have a jack to take the wheel off to check the pad to see if there was something stuck in there, but this is just really weird. I tried using my phone to record it but of course there was ****ty quality and nobody was around to listen to the noise to see if it was really the front or rear. The roads werent bumpy so I dont think it is a suspension thing specially since as soon as I tap the breaks it stops.

From what I've read, I'd say you either have a bad left front wheel bearing, that would explain the gouge, or one of the rear calipers is sticking, the sqeaking could be coming from there.

If it is coming from the rear, then it is very possible you have a slider pin sticking in the caliper. Take it in and have them check for that. That could cause one of the pads to drag on the rotor and cause the noise.
