Brake part number request
Hey everyone. I am doing the GT500 rear brake upgrade and I cannot find the part number for the bolts and nuts for the rear adapter plate

The part number is 1R4Z-2321-BA. When I did the conversion a couple years ago the part was not available from Ford. I reused the factory bolts with some loc tite to make sure they didn't come loose.

Since you used the original bolts with loc tite I'll go that route. I only have 29k kms so the bolts are practically new still |
Like you I wanted to use new bolts, since Ford recommended it. I ordered the parts and they were back ordered. Then the order was cancelled and my money refunded due to Ford no longer making the item available. I wouldn't worry about using the factory bolts with loc tite, just torque them properly. Mine have been on the car without issue for a little over 3 years and I track the car.

up to you, it's your time and money . . . speaking for myself, I saw no benefit to offset the added cost and time needed for the "proper setup" . . . and I know of at least two people who have used those brackets, and pushed their cars harder on the road track (with slicks and brake cooling ducts) than I probably ever will, so not worried about any failures

It is two different ways to achieve the same result, larger rotors on the rear. People have had good luck with both set ups. I have seen both used at the track with good results. I chose to go the Ford route because I wanted it to look like it came that way and wasn't an afterthought. It does cost a little more and take a little more time to use the GT 500 parts, but I needed to change the gear oil in the rear anyway. I also took the opportunity to put new clutches in the trac lok and upgrade to a finned aluminum diff cover with fill and drain plugs to facilitate fluid changes in the future. Even with the extra maintenance that I did it only took an afternoon to complete.

Here is the part list from when I did my upgrade about 18 months ago. This is all the needed parts if you put in all new. Love the upgrade. Looks great and have not had a single complaint. Do it! :nice:
