I know every car will be different but lets assume a relatively stock/mild modded 11-12 5.0....

What would be the best or what is your preferred RMP/gear to take off at when trying to get the best jump and SOTPs feeling

I feel like when i'm playing around I dont get a good plant into the seat. wondering if I'm not at the optimal RPM.

Takes not having traction out of the equation and is more representative of what a car can really do. Street encounters were typically run from a 20 roll, in first when I was a bit younger.

3rd gear? That seems like short shifting unless you're taking off from a roll at 50 MPH.

To the OP....do you really want to get the plant in the seat feeling and aren't worried too much about the clutch? Then if you're rolling from under 40 MPH...2nd gear is your correct gear at about 4000 RPM's. But be careful not to spin out. 3rd gear won't give you the launch you think you're going to get. It'll feel a bit bogged down.

Yup 3rd gear about 50mph and punch it. 3rd is by far my favorite gear. 1st & 2nd with 3.73s POS roads and so so tires equals traction issues

Not all of us "idiots" race on busy streets.... some of us choose deadend streets at 2 in the morning

You know what I'm talking about. You're NOT doing a 50mph rolling start race on a dead end street at 2 in the morning.

Who said anything about racing on busy streets?? I don't race on the street. I was just asking a question of what is the optimal RPM and gear to take off from for the best SOTP's feeling. Isn't that what we have mustangs for, to enjoy them???

I get off at work at 1am and will typically take it for a spin for 15 minutes. There's 3 parkways/expressways within 2 min of my house, 1 of which is dead ended.....

Anyway I guess second does sound good, why does that put more wear on the clutch?
