anyone else keep track of expenses on their cars?
i mean i am a freak, i have every receipt scanned in and a database kept since i bought my car in September
i successfully did this with my 05 for over 5 years...the dealer just looked at me funny when i showed them the bulging zipper binder with all the receipts in there
just wanted to know if there was anyone else out there like me

I do the same thing, use a Fujitsu ScanSnap to scan in any of my receipts of value (car expenses definitely falls into that category).
When I sold my Civic, the guy who bought it was very impressed with all the electronic receipts he was getting. It definitely helped me sell it for above average value, having a clear record of every service performed!

Yep, I keep a spread sheet on my computer, and a paper copy in a folder with all of the paper receipts. This really isn't a lot of work, but if you have a problem, while under warranty, this will be an invaluable tool should Ford balk or question a covered repair.

Since I bought this car pretty new, I'm keeping track of every penny I spend on it. I kept miles & some mods for my 95. Keeping it all on my '11. Miles, miles on the day of month I bought it; the 4th @ 3:00, mods, mods I want to add, oil changes, service stuff, yeah it all. The book isn't with me, so that's what I can think of. I never know how I want to list it out, so it's on Post-Its right now. Just waiting to see if I come up with a better idea. Car & insurance payments. Each one I put miles on my car with the date.
I'm very OCD & ****, though. Most of this is to keep that side calm.
I keep an Excel sheet in my cell phone so I can update it on there. It's also on the computer. I have 9 car folders I made in my phone. My mods so far, what my mechanic did, MPG, Miles, That book ideas, Plates info, Supplies I need/want, When I washed it, & my wants. Forgot I had that on me.

I keep a doc on my laptop here with everything I've done to the car, & all my future plans. Trying not to go hog-wild on this car, but I'm at $3658 as of today.

I went crazy on my 95. Bought the car for $6K, then dumped about $23K into it? With my 11, spent $808.88 so far. Prob rise a little, won't throw too much more into it.

Yep, I keep all the receipts, keep the empty part boxes, and manage the record keeping on a spreadsheet. Attached is an example of the spreadsheet I use - shows that I have spent a little over $2400 in maintenance over 5 years.
