The 2011 V6 is going to kick the 2005-10 GT's butt!

It is all about the torque
Okay lots of fun data and much theory here! But you forgot to add this bit of fact. First it is the torque that accelerates a body, not the horse power! Secondly the V-6 engine will always sound just like the V-6 that it is and it always has been! And that is not bad thing. Just different thats all.
IMHO here is just no sound that really compares to the V-8's sweet rumble! Even the great V-10's do not have that same sweet sound. Lastly. History tells us, that is exactly why so many Americans fell in love with that first 1932 Ford V-8 flat head engine. All that torque and the sound, made the V-8 an instant home-run with car nuts even back then! CalStang

Exactly, which makes me want a 2010 more. The 2011 videos of the Shelby GT350 sound very raspy and not like a Mustang at all. More exotic sounding. Someone on here mentioned that the firing order is the same as the old Flathead V8...not sure if there's any truth behind that, but it makes sense. The GT350 revving really reminded me of an old 32 Ford with glasspacks. And honestly, I don't want my $40k GT sounding like a rat rod. I appreciate hotrods and could see myself building one, one day, but I want my Mustang to sound like a Mustang!!!

My wife thinks I'm crazy when I identify a particular brand of V8 from a distance just by the noise. She thinks I'm making it up, but I'm right most of the time. Glad to see that I'm not the only one with a keen sense of hearing when it comes our beloved V8's.

Regardless of how quick the new 6 is, it's still just a 6, and unless we are talking about Buick GN's, I have no interest in 6's.

I will buy Jack Stands!!!
I've grown up around V6 mustangs here... And they're still nice cars. Not as fast or sounding as good as V8s, but great cruisers, and very comfy in early and new edge SN95 guise

I might add that my 4.6 in its current is a might bit faster now than it was in its stock form. SOP. If the sixers get to uppity, I may have to go with a power adder or gasp trade up to a 5.0.

I'll take 40lb/tq over gears.
On street rubber, they will not give you 3 tenths. Its a drivers race.

It's not magic, it's simple torque multiplication via gear ratios. The final gearing determines how much torque meets the road and it's already been shown the V6 has the TQ advantage in this case.

I can tell you refuse to believe the 2011 v6 is putting more tq to the wheels than the 2010 GT but it's a fact (because of the gearing). Everything else equal, the v6 will cut a better 60' because of it.

Gearing is only going to improve 0-60 and 1/4 mile by a tenth or two. 40 lb ft torque is worth more than that in accelerating from a standstill. FACT.
I think the 305hp/280tq '11 V6 is going to be a nice performance bargain, but those who buy it thinking they're gonna "kick a 2005-10 GT's butt" (stock vs stock) are in for a big surprise.
Don't we have something better to be talking about than Mustangs vs Mustangs? How about all the awesome Mustangs in the line up vs the Camaros, Challengers, and 4 banger wannabe's of the world?

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I feel pretty good on the numbers I'm put out there. I know going from 3.08s to 3.55s was worth 3 tenths on my 94 GT and this is a FACT. 3.31s to 4.10s should be the same. Gears work for you all the way down the track and not just out on the hole. Anybody here going to drive the whole quarter mile in overdrive?
