2011 GT vs 911 Turbo
Ok I'm editing this thread to adhere to forum rules.
All I will say is these new 5.0s are extremely fast and can hold their own against supercars that cost 5-6x more, like a new 911 Turbo. This motor continues to impress the heck outta me! |
Street racing No No. Bye bye thread

dang i wish i hadn't missed this one

in my opinion the lighter 911 turbo with awd, and 3.8 l inline 6 twin turbo engine would win against the 5.0 mustang. It has close to 550 hp and is a serious machine with impressive track capabilities. just my 0.02$

According to Motortrend the 2010 Turbo does 0-60 in 3.0 seconds, 0-100 in 7.1 seconds, and the quarter mile in 11.2. That should pull a 5.0. Must have been an older one.
|
Im not sure if a blown 5.0 could take a twin turbo. Those things are as mean as it gets.
|
Of course a blown 5.0 can take it! A 5.0 with 600+ WHP would blow the doors off of it!

As great as the new 5.0 Mustang is, I agree with the 911 Turbo being the faster car (@$$uming both vehicles are stock). A different level of performance altogether. BTW, the Porsche has a flat 6 engine.

If I had the moula to spend, I would be rollin in a 911 Turbo. No question.

911 is a 911 but I do know that the car is fast enough to beat a CTS-V, maybe not every time but it can happen

First, I'm as straight as the rear axle in these cars but I don't find the homophobic emoticon to be the least bit funny. The forum is all uppity about street racing but bigotry is a-ok.
And yes... the 911 Turbo of any recent generation is a dedicated super car for rich boys and it will spank a GT in any category other than price (and how much of a self important wanker you look like driving one). If it helps anyone sleep better at night, if you put $70,000 into a Mustang GT, you would have no problem mopping the floor with a Porsche 911 of any variety...but you wouldn't have much left resembling a Mustang GT. :D The format of a Muscle Car has some inherent disadvantages. They're traditionally front engine, RWD, V8, with a back seat and a LOW price tag. Given those parameters, the Mustang GT is one of the best of all time. |
Perhaps a better way to look at it is the 911 is a better performance car while the Mustang is a far better performance value, an important and highly relevant distinction for us poor, dumb working slobs. So even if a 911 Turbo will readily put a Stang in its rear view mirror, the 5.0 motor, and the Stang as a whole, is a hugely fast and impressive piece at its price point.
