Just wondering if anyone else knew about some limited Hollander 3834 wheels I came across, with a PVD chrome finish? I bought a set 7 years ago off of eBay knowing they were Mustang GT Wheels, to put on my Mercury Grand Marquis I had back then..
Now that I’ve got my 2011 GT, I realize through the 2011 Mustang order guide, these wheels normally came painted. Searching the web, I found an old sale car ad with these same wheels chrome wheels installed on a “Red candy” convertible like mine. I also found they are offered at a wheel refurbishing company as Hollander 3834PVD.
Did these chrome wheels come with a Mustang from the factory? I’ve been considering installing them on my GT Convertible. Just wondering …. any input is welcome!

The Chrome is The PVD Chrome Which a Wheel Reconditioner Would Use For Upgrades. Those are Oem 2010-2012 Mustang Wheels Which Would Have Been Silver From The Factory. I Could Not Find That Wheel in Ford Parts Catalog Other Than Silver. It is Possible Ford Had an Accessory Wheel in Chrome But i Did not Find it. These Days as a Part Goes Obsolete Especially an Accessory it Just Drops out of The Online Catalog. I Have an Accessory Book From That Era. I Will See if I Can Find it and Confirm!
PVD chrome, or physical vapor deposition chrome, is a process that applies a thin layer of chromium to a surface, offering a chrome-like appearance and improved durability and corrosion resistance compared to traditional chrome plating.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
What it is:
PVD chrome is a coating process where a thin layer of metal, often chromium, is deposited onto a surface using physical vapor deposition (PVD).
How it works:
The process involves creating a vacuum chamber, where the metal to be coated is heated and vaporized. These metal atoms then condense and deposit onto the surface of the object, forming a thin, durable layer.
Benefits over traditional chrome plating:
Durability: PVD chrome is known for its superior hardness and resistance to wear, chipping, and corrosion compared to traditional chrome plating.
Environmental Friendliness: PVD chrome is considered more environmentally friendly than traditional chrome plating, which uses toxic chemicals and generates hazardous waste.
Appearance: PVD chrome offers a bright, mirror-like finish that closely resembles traditional chrome.
Versatility: PVD chrome can be applied to various materials, including metal, plastic, and even glass.
