2010 gt premium 51k miles

I came across a 2010 gt premium with almost 51,000 miles on the clock today. It seem/looks like it is in great condition. Its got an upgraded roush exhaust and a roush cold air intake.. I think they said its got an upgraded clutch and shifter as well. The dealer wants $19,000 for it. Im torn and not sure if I want to jump on it. It seems like a good option but Im currently torn between this 2010 and a 2003 mach 1 with almost 37,000 miles on the clock. Thoughts?

I've owned both and the 4.6 is a great engine but you get more bang for the buck with the Coyote. Like a 100 more HP.

True True. I really want one of the new 2015/2016's with the Coyote, but i can't get approved for a high enough loan to get one of the new ones, so I'm in a bind. Im looking for something good that'll last me a year or two so I can build up some more credit

Go for the 2010 Gt over the Mach 1

I guess it really comes down to which model one likes better. I love the S197 model far more than the SN95 models. Just my own personal preference. Nothing wrong with the SN95's but I just prefer the S197's. I love the rear ends of the 2010's.

yeah, they are both great looking cars. I guess between the two it comes down to looks and interiors since they both have essentially the same engine and are making about the same power. They both have upgraded exhausts and sound great, with the mach 1 being a bit louder. any known reliability issues with the engine/transmission?

I have basically the same car you are looking at. Mine has 85,000 miles on it and has been essentially problem free so far. It has developed some clunks in the suspension but that may have to do with the modifications that I did (stiffer springs, harder bushings, etc.)

The 4.6 is super reliable and has plenty of performance for any normal street use; also the Tremec 5-speed shifts great and has been super reliable, no issues at all (does get a little stiff when it is really cold outside)

I do lust after a coyote from time to time, especially since I have started doing track days at the local road courses. Another gear under the stick would be nice too. But the trade-off is reliability -- lots of issues reported with the Coyote engine and the new 6-speed transmission.

If I had it to do over again, I would compare to a 2011+ and decide if the extra money is worth it to me. I did that comparison when I bought the 2010 and decided it was not worth the extra money at that time . . . "your mileage may vary"

I would expect to be able to get a 2012 GT with 50K miles or less in the low 20's, figure $24K as a decent guess. So you're looking at roughly $5K premium for the Coyote engine.

I think you can probably do better than $19K on the 2010. My dealer told me they could give me great money for my car . . . which turned out to be about $13-15K! (yeah I know, dealers are always full of crap so I should not have been surprised) So I would guess they have no more than $15K in it.

I realize that this is comparing apples to socket wrenches, but in late 2013 I came within a hair of pulling the trigger on an '10 GT Premium convertible at a dealer. It was a certified vehicle with 17K on the clock and perfect in every respect. I negotiated it to $23,500, but got cold feet after realizing I didn't want an automatic.

My gut tells me that the '10 you're considering with 3X the mileage as the 'vert I was looking at 2 years ago might be a bit overpriced for a 6 year old car.

Due to the end of the driving season you might be able to get a great deal on a GT.....I traded in my 14 ( base model with 3.73 gears) that had only 2,500 miles on it and I think they eventually sold it for a little over $25,000, after initially starting at almost 28k.

I agree.
Also, in a year or two the car will hit 7 years old which will make it harder for a new buyer to finance if you sell it at that time(thus reducing its true value).
Remember too that the 2010 is often considered a "bastard" model, not quite belonging to the 2005-9 or the newer cars. this can affect your ability to resell it later.
Good luck on your decision. It ultimately hinges on what YOU what.

Yes, ultimately I want a new 15-16 GT, but if I can't get a co-signer, I need a credit builder for a year or two, then I'd be able to get one. But I feel like either option, whether it's the 2010 GT or '03 Mach 1 would be a good option for a year or two

I had a '10 GT. Mine had a several issue by the time I traded it in. It is a odd ball as it is the only Car with the 1st S197 refresh ('10 - '13) that has the 4.6 mototr in it.

I was one of the mororns that bough the car not knowing the coyote was about to be announed.. not even two months after I bought the car... "Hey everyone, here comes the 5.0!" ouch....

but hey at least it is the only S197 to have a black pony on the grill and not silver like everyone else. ha ha.

My opinion.. if you can afford it.. go for a '12 with the 5.0. 2011 was the first year for the 5.0.. first year cars are more prone to having issues...I would say '13 but that maybe to expensive for you.

OP, I would like to just throw this out there as another option for you. Have you thought about a 13-14 3.7. For 19k you can buy a hardly used, low millage 3.7 which is just as fast as the 2010 Gt.

Granted it won't sound like the V8 but with the right exhaust mods, the 3.7 can, does sound really good and aggressive. Just another option.

Me personally, I would rather have a 2014 3.7 with almost no millage over a 6 year old GT with 51k miles but that's just me.

How many miles did it have on it when you traded it?

I haven't thought about it, but I would definitely consider it. I'll have to check out what I can find

No it's not as fast as a 2010 GT.

. . . .
No they aren't. On my local road course there is a guy with a V6 and we are about even in the corners but I am faster on the straights, noticeably.

Each to his own and I am not knocking the new V6; I almost bought one. But for the same money in the same condition I'd take the 4.6 V8 for sure. Newer V6 for the same money might tip me toward the V6.
