11 sec a6gt tune only

Went to cecil county 11/19 and went 11.955@ 117.38 with a 1.849 60 ft. Car is a 2011 base GT a6 with an American Muscle tune on stock pirellis. No other mods and no weight reduction.

That is impressive. How is your tune set up for the auto tranny? I know my Lund is way to aggressive and i just get sideways with stock tires. My VMP,UPR, AED tranny set up is much better yet the tunes do not seem as powerful as the Lund. What is your timing set at for 93 octane?

TheReaper 11/20/11 05:44 PM

**** !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean that's quick.

There has to be something else besides a tune. I have a friend that has one as well with a tune & runs no where close to that.

uncle phil 11/20/11 05:53 PM

Tune set for soft 1-2 shift shifts about like stock. Had it set like that because of still running stock pirellis.

Location, location, location! Where is your friend located? I see the OP is in PA and the weather is cooler here now. Cooler denser air = more power. I notice my car pulls harder now in this weather also. It may not be that much if measured but my butt dyno can tell a major difference.;)

My friend is located in Southern California. How cooler does the weather have to be in order for the car to receive more power?

.....really?

grabber blue gt 11/20/11 07:03 PM

Well you have to send in $100 to the weather channel to get the power upgrade.

Cars pull more timing in warmer weather when the cars running hot. Basically its the same thing as how cars run higher numbers on a dyno when they have cooled longer as opposed to just throwing it on a dyno and running it.

Also hence the term COLD AIR INTAKE. Colder air = more power

TheReaper 11/20/11 08:06 PM

The Butt dyno loves 40 to 50 degree weather.

wonger 11/21/11 06:42 AM

Yeah, but my sticky PZeros don't.

wonger 11/21/11 06:43 AM

Around 40 it starts to feel like I'm driving with Big Wheel tires.

Amazing!! Well done!
I believe that it's possible...just to assuage the doubters; care to share a pic or scan of the time slip?? :dunno:

We'll have to take your word for it about the mods and the tires you were running at the time. :)

I buy it. The sixty is great for stock tires. That coupled with good air/track makes it all possible

blackgt87 11/21/11 07:59 AM

I heard this story from someone who works at a shop near me (Street Lethal) and I would be surprised if this isn't the same person.

I would love to see a video of this.

What was your 330' time? As stated above, do you at least have a time slip you can post?

Were these stock Pirellis dipped? lol

uncle phil 11/21/11 11:08 AM

Ill try to post up the time slips in the near future. Im not computer literate but when I see my nephew Il have him do the posting. 330 ft time was 5.103 eigth was7.75@92.85, 1000 ft was 10.031. My first 2 runs of the day were 12.001@ 117.31 1.868 60 ft and 12.008 @ 117.18 1.865 60 ft. No the tires have not been dipped and last year prior to getting the sct tuner I went 12.374 bone stock.

That pass is almost exactly .2 tenths slower than my best one across the board. from the 60, 330 1/8 all the way down its almost exactly .2 off of mine, and my car has a CAI and an o/r x pipe and radials on top of the bama tune.

I guess I can believe that cecil is an air intake and cat delete faster than thompson lol. What was the DA when you ran that?

An interesting thing I have noticed about new 5.0's (and this won't seem as strange to people who don't drag race often) they don't double 60' gains at the end of the track. EVERY other car I have ever seen, all the ones I have raced and every one I have ever seen at the track gets (on average) twice as much ET in the 1/4 as it does to 60'. What I mean is typically if you pick up a tenth in your 60' youll pick up 2 tenths in the 1/4. Sometimes it's more, I have never seen it less. My car and other new 5.0's I have seen whatever they pick up to 60' is it. If I pick up .1 in my 60' I get .1 in the 1/4. It's strange to me...

uncle phil 11/21/11 11:39 AM

Da was -500 ft.That was according to a friends hand held da calculator.

That's my experience in racing as well with the 60' scenario you are speaking of. I have hundreds of passes on motorcycles and that's exactly it.. You gain a tenth in the 60 and it's about two tenths on the big end.. Not so with these cases though huh??
