Emission systems light

Hi all you Pony lovers! I have a question please, maybe someone can assist me? I have a 2006 with only 12,585 miles on it - no I haven't turned back the miles. LOL Anyway, the emission systems light came on about a week ago while I was out and it died on me in the middle of the road about 3 times. It took me a while to get it started again. I thought it was the battery or alternator; had those checked but they were fine. I called the Ford dealership and they told me that it would cost $90 just to place it on their computer to pull the codes, then it might take an hour or so to find the problem. They said it could be any of about 2000 problems.. Yikes! I did not take it to them, needless to say. They also said I could have gotten some bad gas somewhere. I only put BP in my car, just as the gas cap states, but use regular. Since then, the light is still on but it hasn't died on me anymore. Is there a way to turn that light off without having to take it to the dealership and pay $90??? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

Pam ;)

You'd probably have better luck posting in the "Warranty/Service Issues" section. I don't think this part of the forum gets much traffic since it's only for the Tungsten folks.
