Anyone Know How to Remove the Cruise Buttons?

I have a 2005 V6 base model with molded black steering wheel and I am replacing the wheel with one from a premium model but the cruise buttons are broken on the new wheel. On the premium wheel, you remove the stainless spokes to easily remove the cruise switches.

Just looked at the molded steering wheel and the long edges of the switches are definitely under the molded part of the spoke. You can can see that it covers the lip on the switches like the stainless piece does. Wonder how to get it out...

Edit:

I was in error. Please skip this post. I apologize. Correct info below.
Leaving this for posterity, as it's quoted, so why delete it?

You cannot. The Base's were integrated in the spokes, unlike the Premium's wheel, and are not interchangeable.

You will need to buy new buttonsets if your Premium wheel's are broken.

When i had my 2008 premium pony which had the aluminum spoke trim I needed to replace one of the cruise switches that stopped working. I got a hold of a base model steering wheel for cheap which had the switches in it. The switches are exactly the same for IUP and non-IUP steering wheels. The switches are a friction fit. They pry out and push back in. The switches are just a tighter fit in the base wheel for the best appearance but they will come out.

{NOTE} The Warmer The Steering Wheel The Easier To Remove Switches! Heat Gun or Run Car With Heater on Full Blast! Until Wheel Toasty!

Not true. They are exactly the same. They pry out and push back in. The only difference is on the premium wheel you have to pull off the spoke trim first. It's always better to wait for someone that actually knows and has done this than to make assumptions and respond with misinformation.

Really. Huh.

Ok, well... My information was obviously wrong, and for that I apologize. I don't know how I 'knew' they didn't come out, but I would have sworn they did not, and that this was the case. I mean, *sworn* this to be truth.

I feel I've betrayed something of a trust. I'll edit to tell people to ignore my previous.

/and... I did wait, that post was there a day and a half, but obviously that wasn't long enough. Le sigh.
