This Has Got to be The Easiest way Ever to Cover the Spoiler Holes When Putting on a Ducktail. Order one Genuine Ford Door Moulding as Used in Canada Or on Fleets. Cut to Length and Install. AT THE PRESENT They come in every available 05 and soon 06 Mustang Color. They will eventually go to Paint to Match. They Appear to be Just wide enough to Seal the hole while being an Exact Color Match. It may not be Perfect but it's Damm Good! They are Tapered at both ends so you only need one. Also they are under $30.00 BTW I Know My Car is Filthy I live out in the Boonies and its a constant Battle to keep the Black Clean.

What was his reason for not filling the holes? I can understand not plugging them w/ bodyfiller, but what was the problem w/ welding them?

I like this idea, but would like to see some better pics.

Thanks!

Hey John - he wants it to be factory perfect and is unsure that he could get it that way - actually I appreciate the fact that he is being upfront instead of taking the money and running.... the guy has a GOOD rep and is supposed to do quality work.....

Actually, I can tell you soon if he does quality body/paint work........

I go after work tomorrow and pick up my RK Sport California Dream hood........
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Problem with welding a horizontal hole is that the weld filler wants to sag as it cools and one of the no-no's of body work is bondo on a hood, trunk or roof. What does a trunklid cost?

Hey Dave...Did you ever get your Ducktail installed? I'm in the same predicament...I have the OEM spoiler to be removed and holes covered. Price quotes as high as $450. I haven't inquired about buying a new trunk lid but by the time it's painted it has to be at least $450.
Every shop I took it to wants to weld first. No talk of any problems doing so. Just the cost.
I've just got to get rid of that wing and get the DA added soon.
Thanks.

I too am in this predicament, and I think im just going to get that spoiler hole cover thing from CDC. It doesnt look spectacular, but I dont think it can look that bad when you're taking the whole car in

Allen - my ducktail is being painted this week - and yes as Juice pointed out earlier, that very reason is why the body shop guy I dealt with didn't want to do it - the dealer a few hours north of me where I am taking my car for TSBs in two weeks went ahead and ordered me a new trunklid - they have painted it and when I go in for the TSBs, will install it. I think the total is $400 - I am selling my stock spoiler though so that will help defray some of the cost.... aaahhh what we go through to make our cars 'perfect'....... :D

derynf Aug 9, 2005 12:01 PM

I'm just not seeing it or understanding it.

I've got the spoiler and want to get a ducktail but don't want that RICER hole cover support.

adrenalin Aug 9, 2005 12:10 PM

Ya I think that would look pretty bad once the ducktail was installed. The trim would really stand out.
