Hello,

I notice a lot of people putting in engine start Buttons and thought why not use a Factory Part. Here is the Start switch of the FORD GT SuperCar.

Enjoy!

Hey, Kev, what is that second pic? I can see it, I just don't understand what's going on there. This looks like a neat option, but as long as I still have to carry my keys, there'll be no pushbutton for me. Now, if we could make a scanner of some sort...hmmm, I have a crazy idea!

That is The Wiring Pigtail and the backside of the Switch. It is held in place by a nut not pictured. As far as the switch it is merely an option. I notice people putting in Honda s2000 Start switches.

I have an idea to make this possible to use without carrying your keys, but you'll still need the originals. I won't say in case someone screws their car over trying it before I can test my theory.

How can you stop unauthorized use if all you have to do is push a button to start the car?

It still requires using the key to start the car. Turn the key to the 'on' position that it's usually in when the car is running, then push the button to start. There's how to instructions on here somewhere for wiring it up so that turning the key can also start the car like normal.

I like the look of that Ford GT button. What's the part number on that?

I think the reason we are seeing the Honda button is it's cost-I can buy one for about $40.00 USA, I priced the GT switch and it is about $100.00 (my cost).

BTW part number is 4G72 11572 AA

The Correct Part # is 4G7Z 11572 AA Suggested Retail is $208.42 Tiberius must be Getting Cost + 5% at the Dealership He works at. It is Definitely a Hard hit as far as price. A lot of the FORD GT Stuff is High Priced! At this Time I can Sell you one for $117.25 Which is a long way from $208.42 But quite a bit more than the HONDA Switch. Email me if you would like one. Prices subject to change! 06/13/05
BTW this Part has one of the Highest Mark ups I have ever seen on a Ford Part.

That's what I'm going to be working on. Think of it as kind of a proximity sensor.

Wow, that thing is expensive. If I'm going to do a start button I'll just get the Honda one or a universal one from a parts store.

This should link you to instructions. You'll need to figure out the wire functions if a different button is used, such as the one from the GT.
