They're here!

I am kicking myself because I had a chance to drive the car in July and I didn't go to the event.
I really think they did an awesome job with the car and hopefully it will sell well.
What Ford needs with this car is a flawless launch, any hiccups and the press will jump on them.
The front end reminds me a lot of the last generation honda prelude... I think it looks great.

Why are they already offering 500 cashback and then another 500 if you use ford credit. It is a new car. Then I noticed something about adjusted pricing on the dealers websites...
They already giving em away?

I dunno, someone a couple weeks back brought up the fact that even if its a new vehicle, there are a lot of people who won't even look at a ford. If you catch their attention with a really good deal, they'll give it a chance and give it a test drive. They gotta win back their reputation from a lot of people and they gotta do that by convincing people to try out their sweet new ride. They probably planned this, they were like, lets set the MRSP 500 bucks higher so that we can knock it off again with "rebates."
I think they've done a great job of calling attention to this car by pricing it so low. Sure if they read the great reviews, they'd probably give it a shot without rebates and stuff, but most people don't read much about cars. This'll get their attention.

Hey andy, care to take some shots of the new car? I still feel like I haven't seen enough photos of it, I've mainly only seen promo shots. Can't wait till we start getting these things up north, I'm maybe about 50% as excited to see this thing in person as i was for the '05 stang. That means i'd probably bike down to the dealer to take a look, just maybe not at 1:30am like i did for the stang...

Saw the Fusion in person tonight. Sat in it. Looked at from all angles. Totally loaded SEL $26,350 and with $500 and $500 that brings it to $25,350 BEFORE your best deal.
This is a seriously NICE looking car and I'm sure it's going to run real well as well. I really think Ford's back in the car game now. With Mustang, Freestyle, 500 and Fusion, they have formidable products. We just need an economy car that can compete. I think they need to rethink the Focus a little.

I drove a Fusion today at the Ford Innovation Drive. Man, this car is as smooth as butter. I didn't take the time to go over the interior but, it seemed nice and put together well. I can say that this car has some nice get up and go though and seemed to handle quite well on the short course they had set up. This one had the V-6 but, not sure what transmission. It was smooth though whichever one it was. If they make an SVT version then it will be a pretty nice car.

I just got the Road and Track for this month and one of the tests they do is a 4 door comparo with Hyundai, Honda, Toyota and the Fusion.
Fusion scored a respectable second. They stated that the car accelerates quite smartly and that there is a very connected feel on the road.
Things like 7.2 second 0-60 vrs 6.8 for the Honda and other little quibbles kept it out of first. They stated they could feel the engine vibrating through the floor pan on their right foot and that interior materials were somewhat sub-standard. The Honda interior apparently blows everything else in this class out the door. Of course the Honda was several thousands more on price.
