They don't look too bad in motion:

Nice vid. They do look better in motion. Still pics of the Taurus don't look right. I can't wait to see one in person.

Yes, it uses the D35 and if I'm not mistaken it's a newer 6 speed than the previous model (i.e. better).

I'm so glad that they are back. I knew that the 500 should have been the new Taurus in the first place. More power and better (Fusion-esque) styling make me like it even more!

yeh.....now all they need to do is let the general public know that they are back, and better then ever. They seriously need to advertise these cars EVERYWHERE and ALL of the time. This is one thing they cannot afford to screw up.

Taurus and Taurus X offer good value for the money, though I can't help wondering if this name change is too little, too late. Succeed with the original Taurus; then let it languish; then kill the Taurus name; then bring out the 500; then kill the 500 name; then bring BACK the Taurus name as the previous 500 - it's all a bit confusing for customers.

Either way, I think they need to be stop-gap measures only until Ford can offer a more exciting sedan in this segment.

The Sable is hideous and redundant, IMHO. I guess the only reason they're carrying on with this badge engineering strategy with Mercury is because they can't afford to drop the marque and hope to turn it around in the future. Trouble is, the future is NOW.

I don't think the public will be too confused, simply because most of them weren't even aware of the 500. For most people, it'll just be like, "ooh a new Taurus, haven't heard about that car in a while".

Anybody else find Taurus X a pretty clumsy name? I thought i'd get used to it, but I still cringe every time I read it. It might clash with Volvo, but Taurus XC sounds a bit better to me. Kind of silly, but anybody see what I'm saying, or am I just crazy?

It seems awkward to me as well. Taurus XC would have been far better IMO.

Ford should use Country Squire name instead of Taurus X.

Only if they're shooting for the 80 and over market.
