I don't believe you'll see the 3.5 in Mustang. The Duratech engines have traditionally be mated to FWD vehicles, and now some AWD. They have never done a RWD application with a Duratech and I'd bet we won't see any in the future.

That's incorect. The Lincoln LS and Jag S-Type both use the Duratec 3.0L.

I stand corrected, however, I also standby my prediction that you won't see this engine in the Mustang.

I don't necessarily disagree. However, I do believe that one day the 4.0L Cologne engine will be retired and something will replace it.

I'll bet the 4.0 will be retired for the 2009-10 mid-cycle enhancement

Then perhaps I misunderstood your post. I took it as a criticism of the design regardless of how it might be configured for a particular application.
No problem. As a testosterone-charged-male-mustang buyer I was going to get the GT, darn the extra 6K, 20 week build time, etc.etc. I bought the V6 car because I drove it and realized 'hey, the V6 does not suck at all!' and had a decent character/spirit to it all in its own right. Part of that is the kick-in of the Torque and HP at low RPM's as outlined in this thread. If the V6 'stang did suck (as I suspect the new motor 'may' unless Ford addresses character/spirit issues) then yes Ford would end up selling more GT's IMHO. I know I would not have bought one. This 4.0 motor has come into its own light -- as supported by all the SEMA aftermarket stuff now coming out for the V6. Ford is too keenly aware that the aftermarket can drive primary car sales. Therefore, Ford cannot afford to 'kill' the V6 just by bolting in this 3.5 motor w/o making it SEMA-friendly as the 4.0 is....
