I found this photoshop in Blue Oval News. I think it looks pretty good!

Very attractive :nice: That would be a great design for the SVT version :D

looks good, the Fusion is gonna be a succesful car

mustang_sallad 7/26/05 12:22 AM

i've always found it funny that ford doesn't really offer much in the way of coupes. there isn't even a coupe focus. i think a fusion coupe would be pretty darn cool. there's a two door G6 right?

jgsmuzzy 7/27/05 04:29 AM

it looks like a Lexus....... I do not think that would be too successful. The fusion appeals to family types, they want 4 doors.

02gtstangvert 7/27/05 06:35 PM

I like, and think Ford should build something like that to compete with other coupes its size.

Fusion needs new tail-lights.

At first I wasn't too keen on the tail-lights but they've really grown on me. I'm sure aftermarket ones will be available very soon after launch. :nice:

I've always thought it would be interesting if the aftermarket came out with "OEM-look" tails for cars that have OEM "Altezza" type lights. I agree though, the Fusion ones, while initially not to my liking, have grown on me a bit.

As far as a 2-Door Fusion, I'd rather see a 2-Door Milan and not a 2-Door Fusion (Maybe SVT-only) as a way to differentiate Mercury a bit.

it makes sense especially if you think about the NASCAR version will look more like a two door.

This car would be cool as an SVT variant, but we know SVT has said they won't do anything that is 1/2 baked. If you take this thing, plop in the new Duratech 3.5L V-6 perhaps with 260hp, I think they'd sell quite a few. You could never support an entire plant with it by itself, but I'd bet you could get 80-100,000 out there a year.

Speaking of an SVT coupe, this photoshop of an SVT Fusion coupe was created by our very own Burningman:

Bah. 3L V6, twin turbo, manual 6-speed, AWD. Worked for Mitsubishi's 3000GT, and this would weigh much less. ^_^

I fully agree that a 3.0L twin turbo would produce more power (duh!) but how exactly would it be lighter? I highly doubt a 3.0L would be significantly lighter than a 3.5L since dimensionally they'll be very close. If you factor in the extra plumbing required for the twin turbos, you'd offset any advantage the 3.0L might have.

kevinspann 8/9/05 12:27 PM

Yeah the turbos might add a little more weight, but the power potential is greater! And burningman's coupe is so sweet..If only this car were rear drive

Like I said, I'm not denying the power potential. I'm just curious about the weight comment.
