Jaguar is the anchor that's dragging down car sales. The bright side is Edge/MKX continue with strong sales as does the Expedition (up 22%!). Lincoln is up 14.5% and the new Taurus (in it's supply limited first production month) outsold the Avalon.

We finally got a loaded Taurus in, must say the **** thing is nicer then I thought... Definitely has road presence and the touches in the interior go a looooong way with an already good car.

Man, add a Flex-level interior to the Edge and it will set the world on fire.

notice that the drop in Ford brand car sales is about exactly the same as drop of old Taurus sales. I think we're seeing the beginnings of a well deserved turn around. All the new products are performing admirably, especially the new escape which many folks on the internet claimed would bomb. Just goes to show that us enthusiasts on the net don't have the same priorities as the general buying public.

I'd say at least they've bottomed out and stopped the bleeding in retail sales. 08's gonna be a big year, with the Taurus and X, updates to Fusion and Edge," updated" Focus, and Flex mid-year. If 08 puts up the numbers, Ford's in good shape.

I tend to agree, though personally I think the new Focus is going to bomb.

I 2nd this.

I wouldn't be so sure, there's plenty of downright Fugly cars that put up good numbers every year (Hyundai's entire lineup, for one), and as long as the price is right the cheap cars will always sell.

Yeah, the American consumer can be kind of weird that way. I'm not willing to prognosticate about the success or failure of the Focus for that very reason.

Yep, and they're all in competition with this new Focus...

I could be wrong, but I don't see this car doing a lot of volume.
