Figured I'd float this "rumor/news" about the Falcon in it's own thread, before I merge it into our "newer" Aussie Falcon thread.

Ford's engineers have been testing a sleek, Australian market Falcon FPV on the streets of southern Michigan. After close examination, Brenda Priddy (whose spy shooters caught this homesick prototype) says she's spied an intercooler in the bottom grille opening—which unless it's a decoy can only mean one thing: forced induction.
Priddy says the Coyote 5.0L V8 that recently debuted in the Mustang is likely the new motor powering the Falcon. In normally aspirated trim, that motor is good for 412 hp (in the Mustang). With a supercharger, 500 hp doesn't seem out of the question.

No, it was G8 too.
Pontiac sold less than 40,000 of them in two years. That's pretty low compared to main competition Chrysler 300, which was sold in over 100,000 units annually since the introduction.

Interestingly, I think you could take the interior of the Taurus, the styling of the 300, and the chassis of the Pontiac G8 and likely have a car that would fly off lots.
As for Falcon, there can be little doubt that the G8 debacle did the prospect of Falcon coming to our shores no favors. That said, I'm certain the powers that be at Ford are bright enough to understand the reasons why the G8 failed, and not all were unavoidable or intrinsically linked to the cars Aussie heritage. Still, I think the only truly great shot at success the current Falcon would have on American shores would involve a ritzier interior, a properly restyled exterior, and a Lincoln badge affixed to it's hood.
My vote? Bring it here and call it a Zephyr.

The Falcon would make an interesting Marauder, but with the plan to make Mercury a purveyor of 'small' luxury models apparently still fully intact such a move seems virtually impossible.
