I can see this in SVT products and the Mustang, and it looks GOOD!

Another stab at the soul of the automobile - DSG's are the automotive equivalent of a handjob!

Purists give me gas.

DSGs, traction control, Fully Independant suspensions, overhead cams, and oh yeah: Fuel injection are all good things when done right.

With the exception of the DSG, none of those neccesarily define how a driver interfaces with his vehicle. In a Mustang, I want to row the gears, I want the ability to drop from 5th to 3rd, I want to slip the clutch...

That's perfectly fine, I'm all for retaining "Good Ole" sticks. But the existance of DSGs, and some enthusiats' preference for them, doesn't stab at the heart of the "soul" of automobiles. Its just another way to do it.

For even more driver involvement, take out the syncros as well. Don't want the art of rev-matching/double-clutching to disappear...

Personally don't care for DSG's, but as long as it's a (future) option, it shouldn't matter.

Alright, you got me with the rev matching...I guess my opposition stems from my fear of DSGs hastening the extinction of the stick shift.

In the long run I could see Ford saving some dime with DSG's hard to miss a shift with one and lunch the engine and gear box - a compelling reason to eleminate the manual trans altogether
