With the exception of the DSG, none of those neccesarily define how a driver interfaces with his vehicle. In a Mustang, I want to row the gears, I want the ability to drop from 5th to 3rd, I want to slip the clutch...

That's perfectly fine, I'm all for retaining "Good Ole" sticks. But the existance of DSGs, and some enthusiats' preference for them, doesn't stab at the heart of the "soul" of automobiles. Its just another way to do it.

Personally don't care for DSG's, but as long as it's a (future) option, it shouldn't matter.

In the long run I could see Ford saving some dime with DSG's hard to miss a shift with one and lunch the engine and gear box - a compelling reason to eleminate the manual trans altogether
