Okay so I was bored out of my skull today and decided to see whether or not there is a difference in the police interceptor engine output and the stock CV output. Well there is...
As the most you can get from a stock CV with the dual exhaust etc. is 239 hp @ 4,900 rpm's and 287 lb/ft of torque @ 4,100 rpm's while on the other hand the interceptors are at 250 hp @ 4,900 rpm's and 297 lb/ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm's.
Now this may not seem like much of a difference at all but coupled with the suspension system, fail-safe cooling, and the available 3.55 axle ratio it does.
Talking to some of the mechanics who work on them they say that 0-35 mph there's not much of a difference but from 35 mph on they kick like mules when you depress the loud pedal.
Just a bit of info I thought I would share.

10hp/ftlbs could easily be made up in the tune. I doubt anything substantial was done to the car drivetrain wise other than the additions of heavy duty tranny/oil coolers.
In my opinion, the Merc. Marauder package is the perfect interceptor. Beefier suspension, nicer tune, ditch all the luxury stuff you find in the Merc and put the plactic bench seat in the back and it would be most LEO's dream.

Just to give everyone an idea of how much one of these costs, its about $42,250 loaded up with all of the wiring packages, suppression systems, armor etc.
This price doesn't include the emergency lights either. Those are around $8,000 to $10,000 installed for police interceptors depending on where you go.
So all in all your looking at a vehicle that will run a grand total of about $50,000 give or take a couple grand.

Actually the Fleet price for Crown Vics ends up costing most Departments less than $30,000.00 and that includes OEM strobe lights in the headlights and tail lights along with red or blue strobe lights on the rear deck. An absolute "state of the art" LED lightbar runs under $3000.00. Add a radio, cage, roll bar, push bar and other safety equipment and the total cost, for our 750 cars is less than $35,000.00 a piece!

As for the lightbar and other accesories thats a great price. It cost the department up in Allentown around $8000 for all of those goodies. I guess it depends on who you use?
