Anyone here have a Marauder?
 

So im thinking about getting rid of the cop-magnet/summer only camaro. I love the big V8 sedans and have wanted an Impala SS or a Marauder for a while. The Impalas are staying ridiculously expensive for 11-13 year old cars, so if i decide to make the switch itd be a marauder for sure. Ive been reading all the reviews and articles about them, but does anyone here have one? or know anyone whos had one? Just wondering about durability, although im assuming they last quite a while since cops and cabbies manage to bag the hell out of the crown vics for a couple hundred thousand miles.

a few years ago I was looking at them and wanted to get one. My wife wanted some thing else.

I'm graduating from college in February (or at least I hope to graduate then) and my next car will be either Marauder or V6 Milan.

Those trilogy marauders are :drool: , unfortunately i wouldnt be able to do that since its pretty pricey and it would have to be an all season car. 450whp wouldnt be fun at all in a calgary winter.

There's guy at ford-trucks.com that used to own Marauder. He sold it basically because he got outrunned by a Honda minivan.

Hahaha well I know theyre not the fastest things on the road, in my car i find myself getting into situations that could get me into a lot of trouble/dead, so thats part of my motivation to get something a little more docile. Theres been a couple times when ive been WAY too close to losing my license for some insane speeding.

a bunch of police officers have them out here - probably the only people who bought them. IDK, don't see too many of them around and it seems the officers are switching over to the new G35 sedans...

Theres not that many around, i think the whole run for both years was somewhere around 11,000

what about getting an "elderly-owned" version of the grand marquis/crown vic and then go to town on the 4.6 SOHC engine and the suspension? I've seen one officer who lowered his car and threw '95 Cobra R wheels/slotted brake combo on it. Looked nice.

i like the maurader. too bad they are so darn heavy

If he wants to modify his car it would likely be cheaper just to start with the Marauder given what that car comes with and how cheaply they can be had.

I would agree that the maurader would be a much better base considering it has the 4v engine.

Exactly. Add onto that the pre-existing suspensions tweaks, upgraded brakes, and 'better' front fascia along with various other upgrades and the marauder is absolutely the way to go. I am considering one for a true daily, year 'round driver at the moment because you can get one at such a great deal.

Ya, im planning on keeping my next car for a while, so id rather have a marauder than a crown vic with all the marauder equipment since theyd probably end up costing pretty close to the same amount. The marauder might actually retain a little value (at least compared to a CV). And they are big, but 4200lbs isnt THAT heavy for how big of a car it is.

Precisely. People may rant about how heavy 4,200lb is, but no presntly produced car anything like the size of the Marauder weighs so little.

Exactly, I was thinkin about getting a 3000gt VR4, but then i realized the **** thing was 4000lbs! ...And it wouldnt have really solved any of my insurance/tickets/driving stupid problems. The only difference would be that i could be getting into more trouble all year round! Not to mention upkeep would probably go through the roof on a 15 year old car with all that electrocrap in it.
