'83-'86 SVT Cougar/Thunderbird
Does such a car exist?
I saw one of them today, I'm not sure if it was Cougar or T-Bird, but it had body kit, hood scoop, dual exhaust (which sounded really good) and 5.0L and SVT badges on the side.
So did car like that really exist or was this just look alike?
It was this generation.

Not a SVT.
Only "special edition" T-Birds and Cougars that I remember from that era are the Fila and Elan Thunderbirds.
The early Fox Cougars XR7s had turbo-4s (T-Bird did as well), later replaced by the 5.0.
Here is a link to information about the Fox Cougars.

The 20th Anniversary Editions Cougars were pretty darn cool. The Mustang turbines look good on the cat, and were even painted to match the trim.

This guy must've done a great job. Car looked more like something that would've come out from Saleen or Roush, but it did had SVT badge.

The only time I remember SVT getting it's hands on the Thunderbird was in 1989-1990 when they looked into a short wheel base Supercoupe.

Yup it was SVO. And they did make the Turbocoupe with special facias, hood scoops, and the red band around it. Now, the guy may have installed an SVT motor in it at some point(or just the SVT parts on the normal 5.0 giving it that extra 10hp), and possibly nabbed some Turbocoupe body parts, or it could just be a sticker so who knows..
Google images with the keywords turbo thunderbird and see if it looks like any of those...
