2009 Focus RS price is up!

Only £24,995 in the UK!!!

Don't start converting it into US$, what's relevant is that it's the same price as a Subaru Impreza WRX STi.

should be nice to have one here after 2010. i think if ford has the fiesta, focus and mondeo with things like the edge, their top of the line trucks, better escape, better mustang, then they can easily be on top

HEY MULALLY!!?? ARE YOU LISTENING?? BRING THIS CAR TO THE US! CAPISH???

Zastava_101 12/19/08 08:53 PM

Look at things this way: Base Sti starts at around $35,000, so that means Focus RS should start around $32,000-$33,000 or so (since it doesn't has AWD).

How many people would pay that much for Focus RS instead of ... let say, Mustang GT Premium (or Shelby GT) or Camaro SS or something similar?

Hollywood_North GT 12/19/08 09:17 PM

If you build it, they will come. <---- True statement.

Zastava_101 12/19/08 11:06 PM

No they won't. It would be another Euro-Ford-Failure-In-The-USA.

If Ford wants a competitive Focus, just build us another SVT Focus.

And they could call it the SVT-POS.

So you guys don't think that a whoop-azz muscle bound Focus would sell here? I dunno, I'm just asking. I know I'd like to try one.

Red Star is right. As a one time deal moving maybe 2500-5000 units in a one model year offering Ford might be able to find buyers for all of them in the low to mid 30's, but even that could be a stretch and it is doubtful Ford could legalize the car for US sale for such a small run and still expect a profit. The cold hard truth is that, in this price range, a fwd-based car of this type without awd is going to be a full-fledged, non-starter in the U.S. market. Don't misunderstand, people love this thing on the net. But, as offerings like the GTO and G8 have taught us, the real world and the internet are two vastly different places. And while the praise may be falling like rain now once on dealer lots out here in the real world Focus RS models would likely largely remain stationary until such time as rebates brought them closer to the Mazdaspeed-esque prices people expect cars like this to wear in our market.
