XCal II help

I need a little help...I'm looking to sell my Xcal II to another member on the site and I just wanted to make sure that they can reprogram it to work with their car....

Should he have any problems doing that?

Thanks

Thanks Paul. Our cars have the same mods, and if they have to reprogram it, does anyone know about how much it will cost?

The X-Cal is VIN locked to your car. It would have to put back to stock before anyone else could use it. If you sell it with your tunes in it, he cannot use it.
SCT can unlock it but the cost is around $150.00 + shipping. Once put back to stock, he would then have to build a tune or tunes for his specific combination of parts. Those can be e-mailed and downloaded into the X-Cal. About $35.00 per tune.

I'm not doubting you or anything, this is more just to clarify this for me: How is the XCal VIN locked to my car? I could understand it being locked to the computer in my car, but I would think that the flash of the new programs to the XCal II would clear that.

I might be wrong here but if he puts it back to stock and the user has the same cold air kit he should be able to uplaod the tunes. Might be a auto vs manual issue but I think that would be all.

i bought a used xcal 2
From a member of a truck site, he said its 3 months old and he only used it on his truck, but returned it to stock prior to trading it in. I got a good deal on it, but my question is, is it locked to his truck somehow and if so can i download something from here to unlock it? I have not yet recieved it.

Yes, you can download LiveLoad and unlock it with that. Then you'll need to get custom tunes on it from an SCT dealer like myself or any other dealer that does this.

And I did see something about the VIN lock...but it looks like as long as the XCal II is showing that my original Mustang was returned to stock (I'll check that tonight), LiveLoad will take care of the rest.

Thanks for the info guys!

The VIN code is also in your computer. Thats how it locks. There are 100's of Mustangs out there with the same computer as yours. Do keep in mind, when you return yours to stock, your car will not run or perform as it would with the tune. If is was NOT VIN locked one X-Cal II could do a 1000 cars. One X-Cal, one car. That's why everybody has to buy one. As far as the tunes for an automatic versus a stick...most tuners manilulate how the automatic shifts. It is also built into the tune.
