Slack in Throttle Cable

Been reading up on this issue and the suggested mod.

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/99pedals.htm

Anyone have an experience with this?

I'm under no illusion that this will give me any power improvements but I am concerned that slack in the cable could keep me from hitting WOT.

I'm going to have someone floor it and see if the throttle body is fully horizontal before I do anything and if it is, I'm leaving it alone. If I'm not hitting WOT, I'm going to add the spacer long enough to just take out the needed slack.

Has anyone done this? I'm concerned about damaging or even breaking the cable by doing this.

I haven't tried this but I do know on the Ranger, the throttle cable is too long. A buddy has a 2003 3.0 Ranger and he took up the slack with zip ties. Said its like a different truck.

Checked mine today and it's wide open with the pedal to the floor so I'm not changing it.

I used 1/8 long vac hose & zip ties on my 02 GT Vert.

Brings the pedal closer to the brake height..............

Thought about doing it for only that reason but I'm used to the pedal height so it doesn't bother me.

I did it for the height, but un-did it because I kept hitting the gas while braking. Of course I have a roush and the aluminum pedals are wider then the rubber ones on the stock mustang. Food for thought.
