Review: Raxiom 3rd brake lamp (LED)

Well its that time again, and this time we have a 3rd brake lamp from Raxiom that is LED so were going to take the Mustang from boring stock everyone has the same thing and add a bit of spice to it!
yes were going from bland Attachment 187423 to this Attachment 187424 and to do this it is actually very easy (took me all of 60 minutes to install, and the longest part wasn't the install it was fighting a plug in piece (blue) and getting it to cooperate and go into the harness! you are going to need a 10MM socket or spanner (if using a socket a deep well style will be the best to use) there are two (2) nuts be careful if your mustang is like mind the nuts were nearly seized in place that the whole piece backed out of the brake lamp assy its self (if this happens just go easy and dont cross thread and once you get it all out you can replace the screw in it) Attachment 187425 we will need to take them out, dont worry you really won't need to save them as the new replacement comes with them, you just need to reuse your 10MM nuts that is all. again be careful not to cross thread these guys...and I would suggest just the tinyest amount of anti seize, I forgot to take a pic of what I used but its easy to find at any autozone or other major parts house. ok so now that is done, were going to need to also pop out your boot bulb (which I have to question its placement as it really doesnt light up much of the boot...), but still, lets get it out Attachment 187426 then were going to move onto some odd plastic screw like clip and get him out along with 4 tan ones (they are easier to get out then the black one) Attachment 187427 Attachment 187428 Attachment 187429 next when that is complete were going to transfer the harnes to the new unit we just got Attachment 187430 once that is complete just plug the blue connectors into where your bulbs used to be (be careful they are hard to do) and MAKE SURE you match the colours of each wire on the Raxiom unit to the Ford harnes (green to green black to black once those are all pluged in go a head and put the new unit in place of the old, this is where the nuts come in that you saved Attachment 187431 Attachment 187432 be sure to bolt it down so its nice and snug, firm is best (you want to keep a good eal with out over doing it) so now it should look something like this... Attachment 187433 Attachment 187424 now as for the product its self, it feels like a good high quality made in the good US of A! and the LEDs look to be quality as well, and have absolute minimal draw on the circut, forgot the values (and don't really feel like pulling out the multi meter from the tool chest) and as for brightness, I drove behind the car today in not so great weather (been raining the past few days) and they are just as bright if not brighter then the stock lights! I can say with out question if your planing a full LED conversion like me this is a 100% must have item, I originally was looking to get the clear/chrome and got this one instead (thanks AM) and my whole plan changed as this looks (to me) 10 times better and blends with where I am going with the build which is a dark red/black stealth build. the total time as stated was 60 minutes but a good portion of that was just fighting the blue connectors to get them into the Ford connectors every thing else was pretty fast. the smoke tinting is not over done like some other products that I have tested on other cars (F150, Nissan Altima, ect) this also appears to be tinted plastic that is molded not just sprayed or painted after its been assembled which is another good point in my book. as far as what more to say, not much more can be said other then if your looking for something to help your stang stand out from the cround of we all look alike this will definatly help you with that! Comfort: N/A Ease of use 10 of 10 (just opperate your brake pedal) Ease to clean 10 of 10 (just rinse and dry if needed) Ease of install 8 of 10 (just set in place and reuse your two nuts you saved off your original unit and factory harness, however blue plugs are a bit difficult to get into the factory harness) Installation: medium (spanner experience suggested, or a friend who can assist if first time as this deals with electrical) Time to install: 60 minutes (or approximately) Fun factor: N/A Overall impression: impressed recommended product for show cars or just general street use: yes Overall score 10 Would I recommend this to others: Yes I would (depending on how you want to go with your build) |

thinking of it, if its the set up that look like the 13-15 style then yes I am planing on it. I want to go all LED on the car

Crossed the US/Canada border today. Customs agent had more questions about what I had done to my car than he did about where I was going or what I had in the car. :nice:
