Question on start-up

I have an 03 GT and recently notice that sometimes when I start my car all the guages will max out then go back to nothing then go to the actual reading. It does not happen all the time. It has only happened 5 or so times. Is there any meaning to this or is it just some fluke.

Ive got an 02 and mine does this too. Its just part of your car startin up i guess. Theres nothingnreally affected by it, just mechanical stuff. Plus its fun watchin that speedo shoot up

It's not a normal part of the start up as I have found out. When your gauges sweep it means your computer is resetting itself which it should not be doing. It seems that the most common reason for this is that your battery is about to crap out. Hate to say it but be ready for your car to not start in the neer future...Thats what happened to mine. Went out one day after not starting it for a few days and the battery was toast.

Check your battery connections and make sure they're not loose. Our year Mustangs aren't suppose to have the full sweep feature that later years do.
