Poisoned Pony's 2004 Mach 1
6 Attachment(s)
I swear this is the last purchase for a while. The wife is really the one who wanted to pull the trigger on this one. Any Mustang that gets her seal of approval is gonna stick around
Walking thru the used car storage lot, I spied this little gem of a Mach 1 sitting in auction area. It was owned by a fellow local club member who traded it in for a new Focus ST. Long story short, pulled the trigger, got a screaming deal on it and sold the Tangerine '96 GT. Now I'm a Mach owner for the 2nd time around Details: - 2004 Mach 1, 5 speed manual - Competition Orange, 113k miles Mods: - Magnaflow Magnapack catback - O/R X-pipe - lowering springs - underdrive pullies - short throw shifter - 17x9 and 17x10.5 '03 Cobra rims - 4.10 gears - SCT Strategy tune pics from when I did the used vehicle inspection and a session my wife shot with a model friend of hers Attachment 196596 Attachment 196597 Attachment 196598 Attachment 196599 Attachment 196600 Attachment 196601 |

Thanks guys! This is probably the best pick up yet! The wife enjoys it, she loved the new edge styling and loves how it sounds. We're already putting together a small mod list lol

Congrats nice find.

haha, no, my wife is on the opposite side of the lense. That's her friend from high school. For a second I was like "Did he really put his wife out there on the Internet for these car dudes?" Haha |
Update to the mod list: car actually had 4.10s and a tune as well. Previous best was a 12.9, I'll make that better ;)
|
The 12.9 was with 4.10s and tune?

That's not a bad time. Especially not knowing other variables/modifications. I was just curious if the time was with the gears and tune. 4.10s aren't the best gears for optimum 1/4 mile times for Machs anyway.

Yeah with all current mods but was done in Florida's summer heat and humidity. Our real racing season is about to begin. Weather is getting nicer and less humid

So 5 days after purchase, the throw-out bearing exploded. I installed a new Motorcraft clutch and throw-out bearing. No pics, was pressed for time on getting the car off my rack at work. Working on getting to the track next week if the forecast, calendar and bank account cooperate.
issues that I'm wanting to fix - rock chipped hood needs repainting. - the 17"s gotta go. Once these tires are gone, black Saleens time. Hopefully they last til tax returns. - purple window is being replaced this Friday. Thank you Groupon for the $75 deal. - I remain convinced that the 99/01 Cobra front bumper is the perfect bumper for the New Edge body style. Say otherwise and I will shank you. The search for one will begin after the New Year. - I'm 99% sure I'm staying N/A when I dive further into the engine |
She looks like she's in great shape. :nice: CO is one of my fav colors for the New Edge body styles. Sweet pics and congrats. :nice:
I just had my rear end rebuilt, including the gears. I had 3.73's and went back to 3.55's (to keep it within warranty coverage). I didn't think I would notice a difference, but I do and like the change. I'm anxious to see what I'll get at the track next season. My best time was 13.7 with my 3.73's and street tires. I didn't run any this season because my trac-lok clutches were shot. I figured if it could put together a complete run, I could be around 13.45 or so. Yup, I don't have the driver mod. Lol. Did your first Mach have the stock 3.55's? I'm curious as to why the 4.10's aren't necessarily the best gear for the Mach's? Also, 12.9 seems pretty good to me. I won't be putting drag radials or slicks on mine, but it seems like you could really lay down a quick 60ft with 4.10's and sticky tires. |

Regarding 4.10s . . . there aren't the best gear for 1/4 mile times as your 3-4 shift occurs at an inopportune time/rpm range. Machs with 3.55s can run through the trap in 3rd (which I believe I did when I ran 12.9 (just DRs and Borla Stingers), and Machs with 4.30s or 4.56s will run through the trap while running out of 4th gear.
I'm looking forward to next season. It's in the 40's here today, but there are two more open days at the track. |

Thanks, I understand now. I know I shifted in 4th on mine with 3.73's probably right before the 1/4 line or thereabouts. Maybe I didn't need to, but once I get in the 6k range, my brain is planning on changing gears. Lol I've been to about 6500, but I'm still nervous about the high RPM's. I'm used to the pushrod 302's that are not modified a whole lot. I'm looking forward to next season. It's in the 40's here today, but there are two more open days at the track. |
