Geting a cobra.

Im thinking about trading my truck (1999 S-10 Xtreme) for a 1996 Cobra Vert. My question is should I? My truck has 26,000 miles on it and looks brand new. The Cobra has 131,000 miles on it but Im not sure what kind of condition its in. I really want a Cobra, but am I getting a good deal?

Not sure about a good deal but what would the Cobra be worth to you? I say trade both your S-10 and your V6 for a newer Cobra with less miles and more power. That sounds like a better deal as if you got the Cobra how much would you drive the V6?

Yeah I think a 96 cobra with that mileage, if its in spectacular shape, should only go for 6500-8,000..... only due to mileage. I would think your truck would be worth a bit more than that. I would agree with teh others, shoot for a lower mileage, newer cobra, maybe replace your v6 with it. You can get a 99 or 01 cobra for some decent deals.

I want to keep the V6 as a daily driver. I would love to get a newer cobra but insurance isnt half as bad on a 96 as it is on a 99. Especially that Im 17. I was looking into getting the Cobra as something to take to Car shows and keep in the garage. The truck has been nothing but problems for me, and If I decide not to trade it, I'll just sell it. Im gonna see if I can get some money and the cobra for the truck.

We're talking about 11 years old car with 130,000 miles.

I think you can get better car for the price of S-10.

Dont do it. You can get a 99 cobra for around 12 grand with a lot less miles than that 96. Or a 99+ GT for around 8 i'd think. If that 96 needs a paintjob youll be way past 8 grand by the time youre thru with buying it, and painting it into showcar shape.

Personally i'd keep the S10 for a dd and then see what i could afford for a show/weekend/toy car, then you have at least one vehicle that you can carry stuff around in (always handy).

Well, I already have a beater 1986 nissan truck. The S-10 is pretty much wasting away. Its an 8 tear old truck with 26,000 miles.

Since you have 3 cars I still say ditch the stang and the extreme and trade both for a newer stang. Either Cobra or GT (change to mod!).

If you want more powerful Mustang why don't you sell both V6 and S-10 and buy newer V8?

I have to keep my V6. It has to last me through college. The S-10 I can get rid of. My dad still tells me what I can and can't do with the cars since they are both under his insurance policy and whatever I buy has to go under his name.

99 GTs can be had around $8k and in my experience racing with stock 96-98 cobras the 99 GT is just as fast and 99+ look better in my opinion.

In that case, you should wait until you graduate from college and they get newer Cobra (maybe 2003/04).

Its no problem. Done worry about me ricing out anything. If I had gotten that Cobra, I would have made it look like it was new, just a lot faster. Im a conservationist, not a pocher.
