My car is an 01 and just because it has cobras on it people seem scared of it and back down. Basically anything with a snake on it people automatically think its an 03-04

Same. Buy a terminator and make it look like a v6 or a GT or something. No one would know.

To get the car to properly handle the power and reliabily make the power is going to cost you some serious money ... it would probably be cheaper to buy a new GT500 that to reach such lofty goals.
I'm actually not too worried budget wise I know this build is going to take some serious time & money

Your best bet to get the 1000hp mark will be to use a 5.4 with FR500C heads and twin turbos. A supercharger will get you there, but a turbo will with less boost pressure. Give these guys a call http://www.dssracing.com/, and tell them what you want and they can help you out.

The FR500C heads are what was used on the GT super car. Ford no longer offers them through Ford Racing parts, so you will have to see if DSS has them or maybe CJ Pony parts. CJ Pony parts had them about 6 months ago, and they were about $1600 each unassembled.

I'll just throw this out there... but if you get a 96-98 cobra they come with a teskid block that can handle 1000 HP. Or you can buy a used teskid for around $250...

There's a production 00R long block for sale for around $9k from a guy over at SVTP.

It's about the closest you can get to a GT motor and heads without the GT.

I have no idea what it'll hold. R motors were hand made and used billet rods. Supposedly the R head were the basis for the GT heads when the time came 5 years later.

I've always been told when it comes to showing a car, a car with matching numbers will hold a value better than dropping a whole new motor in it.

That is if the car is kept in stock, showroom condition. A highly modified cobra is not going to have any collector value. A bone stock cobra holds its value better than a modified one, if you look at some of these 60s muscle cars the valuable ones are restored to stock condition.

If you are going to do this build don't expect to get your investment back, you won't.

Hmmm ok fair enough. I'm judging by your name you have an 03 cobra?

Yes I do, I remember when I was looking to buy an heavily modified cars sold for much less. I personally would prefer something as close to stock as possible. Most buyers that modify would rather do it themselves. Also keep in mind most heavily modified cars are beat by the time they are listed for sale.

That's exactly how I am the one I'm looking at has very few performance upgrades. A supercharger, catted x pipe and manga flow exhaust. Everything else I want to do myself

03-04 cobras can't handle 1000rwhp. crank and rods are fine but you need different pistons since the 03-04 don't have enough clearance around them to handle that much pressure.
