Calling All Gearheads: Help Needed to Decode Mustang – Got Solutions?
User here. I recently acquired a 2004 Mustang 3.9L V6 in less-than-ideal condition. Despite its rough state, it's still running, but I'm encountering several issues. I snagged it for $1600 and I'm keen to spruce it up on a budget. I'm all for getting my hands dirty and tackling the repairs myself, but I want to avoid wasting money on unnecessary parts.
Here are the pesky error codes I'm dealing with: P0122 P0406 P0316 P0303

Here are the pesky error codes I'm dealing with: P0122 P0406 P0316 P0303
And here's a rundown of the symptoms I've observed:
- Odd idle, sounding rather unhealthy.
- Unusual jolting acceleration when throttling below 2000 RPM.
- An unsettling whine in first gear.
- A strange rubbing noise when maneuvering with the wheels turned fully.
- A foul odor emanating from the exhaust.
- A peculiar appearance of the EGR solenoid, with a piece hanging off.
- A distressingly loud and sickly exhaust note.
