17x9 03 cobra rims

Hello!.Glad to be here. Just put the 03 cobra rims (17x9) on my 95 Gt with 245/45/17 tires. She now wants to pull a little bit either left or right when breaking. All rotors and calipers new,new steering rack and outer tie rod ends. Could it be just the extra width of the rim plus the added weight causing this? Maybe someone else has had this problem. Thank you. John

Does this occur when you stop at stop lights, where the road is well "worn" (ie-where the tires would follow are depressed in the road...the road isn't completely flat). If so, I think it may be due to the wider tire. There's more rubber being put down, so it wants to follow those indentations in the road.

I had this happen to me many times when I had 275's on my 2000, especially slowing down while doing a lane change. Just something to get used to.

I got 17X9 also, and they love to follow the indentations in the road. Especially at traffic lights. You should eventually get used to it. I did. The better handling I got out of the 9" wide wheels is well worth putting up with it in my opinion.

Yep, that's exactly what mine did...especially at traffic lights like you said.

And, like you said, it's well worth it.

Im wondering if you have the 245/45/17 tires stretched a bit thin for a 9" wheel. Typically tahts the stock size taht comes on the 17x8" wheel and you can run a wider tire on the 17x9.

Thank you Scothew. Yes!, you are right. I should be running 275/40/ZR17 on the front at least. Will give that a try.

I have the exact setup as you. I was told the same, that my front tires are not wide enough.
