I found this on my hunt to correct the MP3/CD-R problems that people are having with the Shaker 500 and 1000.

Just a breakdown of each Shaker system and their components in a nice little list, incase anyone is interested. (I know there was some discussion about speaker sizes and whatnot.

Shaker 500 and 1000 Stats

Enjoy!

That is awefully written... From what I understand of it is that the stock system has different front and rear speakers than the Shaker 500 and 1000, which have premium plate speakers. Also the front door woofers and amps on the Shaker 500 and 1000 are the same and the only difference between the 500 and the 1000 is the addition of the rear subs, amps and enclosue. If that is all true than those are some pretty darn expensive woofers in the trunk.

Well i donot know how much more the 1000 is over the 500 but with the stereo expereince i have you would spend about $1,000 on a similar setup. quality dual voice coil 10's are $150+, amp is about 75 cents per watt for a good amp, plus $200 for custom box.

The 1000 seems pretty nice but I'd still feel better with $1000 worth of aftermarket equipment. Its going to sound even better.

Well I agree. I would rather spend the $1,000 myself because i could put it in myself and save on the installation and spend more on the system. oh and that is suppose to be $150+ for each speaker. From what i hear the 1000 has an amp for each sub and the subs are dual voice coil which means most likely the subs in the back are running 2ohm unless they are dual 8ohm and if they were i definitly wouldn't buy it! Running 2ohm gets alot more out of an amp you just have to make sure it is 2ohm stable and usually 2ohm puts out double the 4ohm rating. ANyway the point is I am sure the system kicks butt heck the 500 is pretty awesome and thats what i have and will leave alone no point in filling the trunk up with heavy poo to slow my car down my whole goal is to make it into the low 13's.
