I'm looking into options I could get on a new mustang. Does anyone here have the Shaker 1000 system and do you like it? Worth the money?

If you don't wanna go through having an aftermarket system installed, just want to get your car and go, its a cool system. There is a TSB to fix any probs that might come up - I listen to music all the tim in the car and I think the system is pretty darn sweet.

One thing I noticed too - they really must have worked on how the sound works on the interior, even with the windows down - countless times the music is nice and loud and I pull into my development, stop at the mailboxes to get my mail. When I am out of my car, I can hear the music playing but not as loud as I would think it would be - like the sound isn't being 'pushed' out the open windows..... its like it is concentrated INSIDE the car right where it is supposed to be. then I get back in the car and its perfect - and with the power of this system, you can have it nice and loud, but not have to crank it up till its overly loud - the quality is nice and clear.

That's my take.

It wasn't for me. I ordered the Shaker 500 instead because I can build a better sub for a lot less money. If you don't have the time or talent to build it yourself and you don't want to pay someone else to do it for you, then the Shaker 1000 is nice.

I like the sound of the 500. It is about comparable to the Nakamichi Premium system in my Lexus, which is pretty darn nice.

If you like classic rock, or country, or jazz, or blues, or classical, or pop, you're fine with a 500. If you want to 'boom' rap music, you may prefer the 1000.

But for Hotel California, the 500 is great -- that's the CD I used to sample the system (the live version).

I thought alot about the 1000 vs 500 when I ordered my car, decided to order the 1000 hoping it would be good enough for me and I wouldnt have to put aftermarket in. I would say I prefer the aftermarket stuff normally, have 2 12" Fosgate DVC subs now with an 800Watt amp in my t-bird. I figured the cost of aftermarket would be comparable or less than the factory 1300 could buy, but didn't want to rip apart my brand new car so decided to give the 1000 a try. I actually am happy with it. It does have some good thump to it and decent sound quality. Maybe replacing some of the other factory speakers will give it a little crisper sound, but overall I would recommend it for the person who likes moderate aftermarket upgrades and doesnt want to rip apart thier new car to wire up aftermarket amps etc. Yes it may be 1300 bucks but it was worth it to me to have the car ready to go right when I got it. If you are alot more high end then I you still may want aftermarket stuff. Just my opinion. A friend of mine has the 500 though and without the extra subs I would definatly add aftermarket, it just does not sound as good with out the extra 500 watt kick.

Bought my white GT of the dealers lot with a Shaker 1000 in it. I dont think it's worth the extra $1295.00. Sounds OK but doesn't work well. Way overpriced for what you get.

It was way overpriced for what you get but it was a matter of convenience for me. You could prolly get the additional power and 2 nice subs for a little more than half the price you pay for factory but like previously posted you have to install yourself or find someone to do it and at least factory equipment is covered under the factory warranty.

If you put some aftermarket mufflers on your ride the 500 won't be enough.

The trunk is already larger than the 04's. A little equipment there does not bother me either.

I normally would have gone with the 500, but bought off the lot and got me a 1000.

New mufflers make me glad that I did.

I love the Shaker 1000. The sound is great!
the only downside is that the thing is a lil picky on file structure for mp3's. I have some luck with getting all the info, but not everytime.

ONE ADDED BENEFIT is that it is insured as part of the car whereas upgrade aftermarket stereos are not insured by your auto ins. carrier!

I have the Shaker 1000 and love it. I've had my car 10 days and there have been no problems at all with the system. It sounds great (to me). Good bass response and crystal clear upper ranges.

Thanks for the informative replies. I'm also wondering about 2 other things with it.

1) Do the subs make the trunk make that horrid rattle sound when they're turned up?

2) Is the bass very noticable through the back seat when it's up or do you leave the back seat down to hear it more?

1) I notice that when the bass is heavy and I am OUTSIDE the car, I notice some rattle - definitely NOT like some of those LOW RIDERZ out there that's for sure..... and NONE when you are inside the car (going back to my original post about how they got the sound RIGHT on the interior)

2) I have never had my bass above 3/4s UP on the meter..... works just fine right through the seats - just realized I have never DROPPED the seats while driving to see what it would be like!! Guess I have a mission on the way home from work today!
