The instructions on how to disable it are in your owners manual.

Theowners manual explains how to disable it.I did it yesterday and it is very easy. The only thing that stinks is that you have to do the procedure on the passenger side after you do it on the drivers side. Doing the procedure once doesn't take care of both seats.

Seriously, people. stop saying this. We all know wearing a seatbelt is a good idea, that doesn't change the fact that the seatbelt light going on/off when you are in a drive up fast food place and need to take off your seatbelt to get your wallet, or in a bank driveup, etc is very annoying.

Funny you say that. Someone posted the disable instructions a while back and the responses were...

"...Yeah, then get out and run around the car 3 times (naked), honk the horn and climb in the trunk. Finally, pull the release handle inside the trunk..."

You get the idea, nobody thought they were serious when they read it in the post. I was really surprised to find out it was true.

The sound is there to remind you and your passengers to do up your seatbelt. Once the seatbelt is on the sound will stop. 95% of people that do not wear seatbelts in automobile accidents usually end up driving in another terrestial plane.

The whole point is that I want to drive my car, I want to tell it where to go and what to do. I do not want my car telling me what to do. period. I do wear my seatbelt, so much that I've caught myself putting it on to pull the car out of the garage and into the driveway to wash it. Again, the car is for my enjoyment, not to tell me how to live my life.

...OK, I'm stepping away from the keyboard and taking a deep breath...

John - just wait till the "Little Black Box" tattles on you to the Police and Insurance company what speed you were really going - prior to an accident - then you're really gonna like all this new technology.....

I can unbuckle my seat belt while the car is running (drive-up ATM to get wallet, fast food drive-thru, etc.) and I don't get any kind of warning (no light comes on, no sound)... odd. I have a manual tranny, and have only done it when the car is in neutral... wonder if that matters, or if it's just disabled somehow.
