key upgrade

Has anyone upgraded their silly clunky key/fob on an '05 with a newer model key with the remote buttons built into the key? I have both original remotes, however the dealership parts department guy says its impossible...

Check out iKeyless. I got one for my '06 and I am very happy with it. You have to get the key cut and you can program the buttons yourself as long as you have 2 working fobs.

I bought the fusion factory key with the buttons built in, had it cut for the car, and then programmed. It works great. Think I did it in 2008 or so. You should easily find it here using the search. If not PM me and I will find the part number

Check the 2010-2014 section.
I just replaced my key with the flip key. Works like a charm

I have these in my Mustang and my Explorer. The key neatly folds in the side. All in one.

I had a key cut today by pop-a-lock and programmed it myself with my two original keys. I got the key from eBay, great seller, and it comes with programming instructions. It took the guy about 3 minutes to cut the key and it took maybe 3 minutes to program it. Here is the link to the one I bought:
