Exclamation Help with Stereo Wiring

Okay so I am trying to install the Kenwood DPX-701 and am having some issues with a few wires. I have a 4 speaker system - No Shaker. Listed below are the colored wires other than the speaker wires and the ignition, battery and ground wire....I understand that at least.

On the new head unit harness I have:

Blue/White - Power Control Wire (think that is for the amplifier)
Blue - Motor antenna Control Wire (for a motorized antenna i guess)
Brown - TEL Mute Wire
Pink/ Black - EXT amp Control Wire
Orange/ White - Dimmer Control Wire

Vehicle specific wiring harness:
In addition to the red, yellow, black and all speaker wires I have:

Orange/White - it says Dimmer
Orange/Black - it says Dimmer Ground
Pink - it says TEL Mute
Brown - is says Mute (I have 4 of these)

Can anyone help me out with how to hook these up. I was assuming that the two orange/white wires would connect together but a I read a post that said different. I guess the biggest issue is what is really the Mute and what way do I need to hook up the Dimmer?

You are correct that the blue/white wire would be run to your amp's remote turn on lead. As for your dimmer, you can not use the dimmer wires that the stock radio uses. To have the radio dim when you turn on the lights, you must run a wire to the switch behind the headlight ****. I don't know which to run it to since I haven't done that on my DNX7100 unit yet but I can confirm that you can't use the car's dimmer wires.

Dysan,

You don't have to go thru that much trouble with the dimmer switch. You just need a volt meter and some time. One of the wires that connects to the row of buttons on the top of the radio can control your dimmer. Just unplug the one on the passenger side and put your voltmeter to one of the pins. Check voltage, then turn your headlights on and check voltage. The correct wire will go from ~0 volts headlights off to ~12 volts headlights on. Splice it or use a jumper type connection and you are all good.
