another quick ? for those that bought the 50resto/honda one.....what does the 50resto kit come with? it says the button, chrome bezel and electrical connections, but what all makes up the connections? Im wondering because I want to know what I need if I buy just the button setup, cuz Ive found those for like $30....Ill look back through this thread in detail but can someone please just break down the wires needed (guage, etc) and connections?

If you buy it from 50resto, it will come with the wiring, taps and the relay as well as instructions vs getting it from Honda or someone else. You won't need to get anything else. Call them and make sure nothing has changed. Beyond that, I've long since thrown out teh instructions, so I don't remember what you need, but I think you can download teh instructions off thier site.

perfect, thanks. I think Ill just spend the little extra and order from 50resto and be done with it instead of running around trying to get the rest of the parts.

All you need to connect to the button is the plug found in a power supply for a computer. If I remember correctly it was the plug for a floppy drive. I went to a used computer/repair store and they just cut the plug I needed with a length of wires attached from an old burnt out power supply for free.

That's a great tip! :nice:

You also need a relay and the wiring for it.

I did not use a relay in mine. If you look at the early posts I believe there is a factory relay that uses very low amperage to activate the starter circiut, thus negating the need for one.

I have had my starter button installed for around 2 years now with no issues what so ever.

ok guys, i got the honda switch and a relay, i probably wont use the relay because after reading this entire thread it looks like i will be fine without it.. i need to know what prongs do what on the honda connector because i dont have a harness and i couldnt find anything in this whole thread. i do have the connector from my old pc to use on it though.

thanks in advance guys.

it seems like in this whole thread the only thing we missed was the actual pin out for the honda connector.

ok, so the honda button only has 3 connections.... power (from the cig lighter) dimmer (from the e brake area) and a third wire (to the starter wire under the ignition)

does that all sound right? thats what i have put together how it should go without the relay in place.

if thats correct than the button actually supplies 12v to the starter circuit. since there is no ground.

somebody correct me if im wrong.

thanks guys

I'd wait until someone can chime in, or maybe PM someone w/ that button before getting started. That's from a different car, and I'm not sure they're going into the ebrake reason for the same reason that I did. I both made my ground there, and picked up the unused lead for the dimmer (since mine's a 5spd), but those were 2 separate wires.
