I don't know. That would be more of a question for someone who knows more about remote starts. I think remote start cars can start without a key. :dunno: It might be able to be done, but I would have no idea how.

The the switch mentioned above is only used to disable the connection that is normally made when the key is turned all the way forward. Basically, it makes you use the button. I don't think that would work the way you want it to. Not to mention, your car would be a pretty high theft risk.

Here's a link to a bunch of great info at 2005stang.com that might help you out - http://www.2005stang.com/viewtopic.php?t=1087 The instructions you're looking for are under Dash, Floor Console. Good luck Jim.

I just need a bit of a walk thorough not on setup but the actual function of the button. I can not find a video of what i am looking for. I want to set up a push button start with a switch to deactivate the need for the key. If I just want to stat the accessories just push the button? If I want to start the car hold brake and push button? If I want to turn the car off just press the button again?

This thread is only going to help you use the button with a key, and will not turn off the car. If you want to go keyless, then that's a whole new thread. Maybe ask someone how remote start systems work without a key. That's more along the lines of what you need.

I think its possible, but you would need the transponder bypass thing that they use on remote starts for our cars.

hmm can we get a new link to the pdf?

05GT-O.C.D. Apr 4, 2007 06:51 AM

Which .pdf do you need?

dslimbizkit Apr 14, 2007 09:42 AM

I just read on a previous post in this thread that somebody had gotten a kit that had different colors..not just the red? where do you get that?? I just ordered the starter from 50resto but I'm curious to see an orange one being that I have a grabber orange sTANG .....

05GT-O.C.D. Apr 14, 2007 09:51 AM

Mine came w/ Red, Blue, and another color (yellow or green? :dunno:) and it was from PepBoys, but that was 2 years ago.

Ford Racing now offers a start button for the Mustang. I think it is from the Ford GT.

I think I still like the Honda S2000 button better, as it sits in the hole nicely and has the chromed ring, but look for yourself.

Cheers

How is your baby? Still have the Power Wheels Mustang ready for the little one? My son still can't reach the pedals. Maybe by Christmas!

I've noticed that quite a few cars, both high end and main stream (like the Altima), are now equipped with a start button.

Cheers

Baby's good! Starting to crawl, bottom 2 teeth in. Right now his car is covered in drywall dust from a recent basement project I'm working on. When it's done I'm going to have to give his car a wax job and box it up for Christmas next year... I think he'll be ready by then? :dunno:

Yeah, I'm seeing more and more cars w/ the start button. I still use mine, it's kinda fun. Plus since I don't smoke, it does the best job of covering up that ugly hole that's dead center in the top of the dash. I'd still like to know what's up w/ that 'euro' start button posted recently. :poke:

jim010 Aug 21, 2007 08:10 PM

Glad to hear the little guy is well. Teething, huh? Is it bugging him much?

I have little choice but to use my button, since I wired it that way. Passengers still think its cool.

What is this euro button you're talking about by the way?

Cheers

What the heck??? There was a black button with a red Ford oval and 'Start' on it that was posted earlier, and avail on a car overseas. What happened to the post(s)?

Question??

I have an S2000 starter button on order and plan on setting it up the way you would with the Latemodel Restoration Supply kit. The only thing I am not sure of is what connects to pin number 2 on the s2000 button as shown in the diagram below. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I just went through the entire thread, great info, was wondering if people could post pics of theirs so I know which Id like to go with; unless there are only the 4 options: the pepboys, the ignite, the 50resto and fordgt...am I missing any? Out of those I like the looks of the 50resto one the best but would like something that lit up as well....any suggestions? was gonna go get one today but Ill wait the weekend.

05GT-O.C.D. Oct 6, 2007 07:26 AM

I was just flipping through the MossMustang catalog and they've got one too, similar to the one I put in. If I were to do it again, I probably would go w/ the 50resto one. Don't forget about the button from the Ford GT.

jcthorne Oct 6, 2007 12:27 PM

The one from 50resto is a Honda part from the S2000 and does light up.

jim010 Oct 6, 2007 12:39 PM

Go with the 50resto/Honda button. It looks great, and I'm noticing the some cars featured in the Mustang mags are using these too. And yes, the lettering lights up red.

Cheers
