For the record, I have confirmed that the oil pressure warning light actually is low oil pressure and not some misfunction of the gauge.
|
Did you find out what the actual cause of the low pressure is?
|
Don't know the cause, but I bet it has something to do with the oil pump turning on briefly before you turn the key to get it going and start the engine with positive pressure. If it doesn't start the oil pump shuts off. The oil pump is inside the lower block. Maybe it isn't the oil pump but something builds the pressure up.
What I did was ground the oil pressure sending unit wire and turn the key. The oil gauge went up and never went back down, so it is in fact reading a pressure drop. I'll know for sure in a few weeks when I acutally run the wires for my oil pressure gauge. |
i just installed my push button start yesterday and do not have the oil pressure problems at all. also i did not use the genuine honda s2000 switch, i found one on ebay for 25 bucks and it worked perfectly. it has interchangable buttons so it can be orange, green, red, or blue with engine start written in white letters.

Sounds like the one I got. Got pics? What did you think of the install?
|
no pics yet. install was extremely easy. found the ignition wire with no prob and spliced the cig lighter for power. 1-2-3 and bam i got a working start button.
|
I ordered this one from Ebay. It's an S2000 and comes with a wiring harness and a relay.
GENUINE-S2000-START-BUTTON-KIT I'm going to install it this weekend along with an FRD04-AUX Aux Converter and I am going to hardwire my Sirius Starmate. Wish me luck. |
Good luck Kirby! Get your camera ready so we can get some pics!

OK, I finished. Wasn't very difficult. I did everthing like John and Dustin said. I wired it to the number 5 slot in the fuse box.
Here is a pic where I tapped into the starter wire. Attachment 340 I really liked the wiring harness that came with the S2000 button that I got from here: EBay S2000 Start Button This is a pic of where I mounted the relay and a pic of the harness before I installed the button. Attachment 341 I don't have a Dremel, but I bought this at Home Depot and it worked perfect with my drill to make the hole a little bigger. That along with my xacto knife I was able to get the hole right in about 20 minutes. Attachment 342 The finished product. Attachment 343 And in the dark. Attachment 344 Thanks to John and Dustin for their excellent write ups. Couldn't or wouldn't have done it without them. |
Good Job!
Glad to help. Looks sweet!!! |
Hey guys I have the Ignited button and was looking for some advice on the install. The instructions state that a 40amp relay is recommended. So does that mean the wire connection from the starter, ground, and other wires go directly plugged in to the relay? And how do I connect the relay to the engine start button? My engine start button has a connection for four wires. I have read the other posts and I am glad that a lot of info has been posted on the install. Boy am I glad I don't have to cut any wires. PLEASE HELP.

The relay is 'recommended', but I didn't bother. I've had mine for over a year now and never a problem. I'm not that well versed in relays, shoot dustin (dustindu4) a PM. I think he knows a little about them. Good luck on your install. Hope the pics help!
Be sure to post a pic when you're done. |
Update - many photos were lost during a TMS server crash. I've re-uploaded as many as I could find. Let me know if you find anything of mine missing.
|
I added the start button last night.
I also picked up a spare key, without the chip in the handle. I had the key cut to match my car key. The plan was to leave the new key in the car as a starter switch. That way, as long as I had the actual key in my pocket, I could start my car. If the key wasn't around the car, it wouldn't start. Well, it doesn't work. You actually need the key in the ignition cylinder. The new key would turn, and the accessories turned on, but the car would not turn over. |
uh wtf?
|
It's not a proximity sensor. The actual key is needed as the ignition send a signal up the metal key to the chip, then the chip sends the signal.

Just saw this start button & ignition switch panel that I've already posted on another thread.
Thought it might interest some: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...228#post690228 |
Anybody install one of these lately?

Does anyone know who makes the engine start button featured on CDC's mineral grey vert? I think it's the best looking out there.
