Has anyone found a dead pedal yet for the new 'Stang?
I've seen Steeda's new Billet pedal covers which I like but I would like to add a matching dead pedal. My carpet there is getting very dirty already.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit, but how are steeda's pedals? Do they work well? Slippery with a wet foot?

BTW, not sure about your question daniel.

Does the 05 not have a dead pedal? I thought it did.
For the life of me, I never even checked when driving the auto5speed.
Just assumed

Yea, its there. Just not in a very good location.

Mine doesn't have what I would call a "dead pedal". My '93 has a dead pedal and my '03 had a dead pedal. The place where a dead pedal would go is flat but it's carpeted and is a nice place to rest your "clean" foot!

GOFISCH Nov 28, 2004 11:45 AM

Thats the spot. Its carpeted, but its too far up. The car I drove was an Auto. Its definitely not your classic "dead pedal."

I found this at www.SeanHylandMotorsport.com but I can't find it on Steeda's site:
Steeda Billet Aluminum Dead Pedal # 555-1156

I've emailed inquiries to both parties...

That would be great if they would have a pic of it. Carpeted, install, etc.

I kinda got use to the one on my Jetta...its along the same plane (same height and angle) as the other pedals. That's a dead pedal... I could really use one on the '05

I was thinking of making my own...anyone have opinions/thoughts on what makes a good dead pedal
(now that I have some time freed up, I might be able to make some to sell, too... anyone interested?)

steve19970 Nov 28, 2004 07:11 PM

Excuse my ignorance...what is a dead pedal for?

Resting your foot on when its not on the clutch...

Aluminum covered ABS would work. The one that is there is not high enough, your leg is almost stretched completely out.

FrankBullitt05 Nov 28, 2004 08:14 PM

I was thinking polished stainless steel, but ABS might be easier (and lighter!)

I'll put together a mock-up sometime this week and see what feels 'right' as far as position

Redfire 05Gt Nov 29, 2004 10:28 AM

It would be nice if what you make allows this to fit. I think the gas, brake and clutch are the same.

drizztbob Nov 29, 2004 11:20 AM

Dead link...

Kluski Nov 29, 2004 01:23 PM

Pedal Kit

I found the same thing, but there was a click here link that brought you back to the main page.

Since there is not an existing pedal, how would the dead pedal be attached in the 05? Would you have to drill into the floor board? Or is it just attached to the carpet?

drizztbob Nov 29, 2004 01:39 PM

I don't see any dead pedals in that link...

That link was to PartShopper's page listing the '99-04 Bullit Pedal Kit. Unfortunately, part of the URL is a Shopping Cart ID#!!
I checked the Bullit Pedal kit at Ford this AM and the gas pedal is completely different. The clutch/brake cover MAY work...didn't actually take it out into the parking lot and try to fit it to my '05. The Dead Pedal cover would need a bracket to attach it to.

I got replies from Sean Hyland Motorsports and Steeda this AM regarding my inquiry on part # 555-1156:

Sean Hyland: "We do sell the part #555-1156 Steeda Billet Aluminum Dead Pedal"

My next question to them was "Do you have stock?" Based on the following info from Steeda, their answer has to be "No"...

Steeda: "This is an upcoming part that will be available in about 2 weeks."
My next question to Steeda was "Will it match 555-1152?"
.
.
.

Redfire 05Gt Nov 29, 2004 02:55 PM

And Steeda's answer is: "It will from what I have been told."

drizztbob Nov 29, 2004 02:57 PM

Good info. Post a link to buy when available. Thanks!
