Comfortable Seat Option With Airbags?

So I recently got into a biking accident. Broke both arms... messed up my shoulder and back.

I've since had surgery on both arms and am now still recovering. But I have since moved from San Antonio to Houson (job related) and I have to drive back to SA every few months for my follow-ups.

Anyway I basically can't take the trip in my stock seats anymore. I have a '91 Mustang GT and the seats in that are MUCH more comfortable than my new car, but I don't want to put the miles on my '91 (it's almost at 200k) so I wanted to see if I could get some more comfortable seats in the new car.

I looked into ordering some GT500 or Bullit seats as I read they are much more comfortable than the stock seats. But alas you cannot order them because they are special editon. Understandable... but still sucks for me.

I have the side airbag seats now and I would like to retain this function. Does anyone know of a way for me to get some more comfortable seats and still have the stock side airbag?

Thanks for any help.

Wow, that really sucks. I hope you have a full and speedy recovery from your accident. Unfortunately I cant help with the seat issue, the air bag thing is really going to make it difficult to do a switch with another style air bag seat. Even if you found something that might work I'm guessing you would at the very least have to get the computer or air bag module reprogrammed to make it work properly for the application. Good luck!

You could PM 05stangkc and ask him if he can help you out.

Since you are uncomfortable from your injuries, the GT500 seats might not be any better. Also, the airbag thing will make it a more difficult swap. I would try a reputable auto upholstery shop in your area. They can reshape or replace to foam and modify the upholstery to your liking. Also, I would try to figure out why the '91 seats are more comfortable -- softer foam, more upright seating position? Sorry to hear about your injuries. I hope you can find an easy solution.

Thanks guys :)

Yeah that sounds like a really good idea Tispco.

I hadn't thought of that.

I think the reason the older seats are more comfortable is just they have softer and more foam padding in them. On my new seats I kind of feel like I'm sitting on top of them if that makes any sense.

In my 91 it feels like I'm sitting IN the seat.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion I think I'll try that route :)
