ok so i ran my power cable(fuse inside) from the battery to the amp.. i grounded the other cable in the trunk and connected it to the amp... hooked up the sub and amp together.... ran RCAS from my headunit to the amp.. and i ran the remote cable from the wiring harness of my headunit to my amp.... still no power!?!?! could anyone provide me with the slighest idea of what I may have done wrong or didnt do at all???

If it's not a wiring problem (which it may be), check your headunit. I assume it's an aftermarket headunit. On some you actually need to "turn on" the sub output.

If that's not it, start checking fuses and find out where you have power and where you don't.

Also check your ground, Everything back in the trunk is painted. Take a flat head screwdriver and scrape away some of the paint where your ground makes contact, so that it makes contact with bare metal.

o good point... i just drilled a hole in the painted area and screwed the ground wire in the trunk

Try hooking the ground underneath the seat belt hold down bracket and bolt and if you have question about the remote, use an extra long piece of wire and temporary jump it directly to the battery, this will at least elimate that.

you mean jump it to the ground on the battery terminal??!

Double check the remote. Pull it and apply power to it off your main power wire and see if that makes everything come on. If that's it there's your problem.

I'd be willing to bet your aftermarket head unit has 2 remote wires- one for amps, and one for antennas. Make sure you're using the one for amps, NOT antenna. When they have both, the antenna one will only have a sinal when the radio is on- not CD/DVD/MP3, etc. Is there any way you can check if there is signal at the RCA jacks?

Better yet, what unit are you using (so I can look up any odd settings).

Get a cheap voltmeter. Put the black lead on your ground and the red lead on your amps positive terminal, see if you have 12 volts. If not thats your problem and you need to find out why. Could be bad ground, blown fuse on your power line, etc. If you do have 12v then the problem is likely your remote turn-on.

Infinity you were right!!! the ddx 6019 has two remote wires... i was just using the wrong one...

I won't explain how embarassingly long it took me to figure that one out when I did it some years back. Suffice it to say that it was enough so I'll never forget.

At least it wasn't blown equipment. I had a shop in town install my amp and they tried to tell me my stuff was fried but really they had swapped the remote on and the ground cables on the amp.
