Wheel Offset Fitment Question

Hi,

I am getting some new wheels (Verde Axis V99) 20x9 +30mm front, 20x10.5 +45mm rear. I found someone running 275/35 on a 20x9 +35mm wheel with no issues. Can I do the same by adding a small spacer to add the +5mm or do spacers not do the same?

sorry for this question. I have never used spacers, so I am not sure what they due.

I was looking at getting 255/35 for the front, but when I saw someone doing a 275/35 on the front, I thought that would be nice since my old wheels were Steeda Spyders 20x9.5 +45mm and I ran the same 275/35 and like that size a lot.

Yes, you can use a spacer on those, if you want. A 5mm (not quite 3/16") isn't that much of a spacer that would cause a problem with the studs. Just make sure you get a proper hub centric spacer so that the wheel is properly centered, as Mustang wheels are both hub and lug centric for centering and torque reasons.

Now as to whether those tires will rub or not on those wheels without a spacer... :dunno: It might. Might not. Only one way to find out, and it's a turning only thing, likely.

Spacers actually subtract from the offset. Your 30mm offset with a 5mm spacer is equivalent to 25. Your spacer pushes the wheel out which equates to a smaller number. That's why your after market wheels sit flush with the fender with a 25-30 offset the the stock wheels are tucked with a 45 offset.

Hope that makes sense.
