What's up with Shelby Black Hood Pins?

I tried to order a set from Partscheap.com, and apparently they are on back order because of an anodizing problem? They said it looks like several months before they fix it?

Do any of you guys have these pins?

Yes...I have em.....and yes, they have a problem....Honestly, although these pins look fantastic, they suck....

I have been thru three sets of rusty lanyards, finally took those off, and yes, the black based end up rubbing thru to bare metal. I have painted mine once, and they need it again. I gotta either pick up a cheap set of the polished ones, or have these powdercoated......

Other than that, they are fine.....

I was looking into getting these as well, but I've heard nothing but bad things about them. A buddy with a Shelby GT has had his replaced 3 times already through Shelby...

I've heard alot about the black wearing off over time....hopefully this means they're are going to resolve this problem

Considering they are anodized I would expect the black to wear off since there is constant rubbing between the pin and the part that mounts to the hood. Afterall, they are aluminum so it doesn't take much to damage a soft metal like this.

There was another thread on this topic from a member asking whether to go with the black or aluminum look. I also like the look of the black, but the wear issue isn't going to be fixed any time soon so I went with the billet aluminum. Metal on metal results in wear and unless the metal is black all the way through, we are SOL. On the subject of the rusting lanyards, mine are starting to rust now that winter has arrived as well.

Yah, that other thread was started by me !

but based on what I've heard, I'm just gonna hold off til they figure it out. I really like the black look and it fits my theme much better. My car is all blacked out so it's really the "anti-bling", except for maybe my Pony Spinners.

I had them on our yellow car before the twist on pins and now they are on our black car and yes they are fading and rubbing off and I cut lanyards off the 1st day.
