Thumbs up

I can't find a previous post on this, but I know there is one. I have had Eibach in the past and a lot of people are talking about Steeda lowering springs.

At this time I am not interested in a complete kit, just looking at lowering the car 1".

For those of you that have lowered your car, what did you go with and did you add anything else (bump stops, camber plates, etc etc)? Now that you have lowered it what do you think? Would you do/add anything different?

My rims should be here in a few weeks and I want to drop it before they arrive.

When I had my 99 cobra, I lowered it with the Eibach kit. I didn't do anything else to the suspension. The car rode just fine, not to mention that it looked and handled better.

I just purchased the Eibach pro-kit for my not yet arrived stang today. I priced out the Eibach kit cheaper than the Steeda. $259 vs $239.

I am getting this Steeda stuff installed today.

Sport Springs, X5 Ball Joint, Steeda Bumpsteer Kit, Street Panhard Bar, Billet Camber Adjusters, Control Arm Relocation Kit, Billet Lower Trailing Arm.

I will let you know how all this works after I pick it up tomorrow!

Well I might go with the Eibach kit only because I can get that from a local supplier. I would need to order the Steeda kit from the us and by the time I pay shipping and handling it would be about $200.00 more than the Eibach.

I think I will go with Eibach if/when I lower the car. Just because they tend to be a bit cheaper. John, are you going to install them yourself? I am toying with the idea. I've heard it was easy... just need to rent a spring compressor. has anyone who has springs installed them yourself? And if so, how did it go? Also, for those of you who have had them installed, how much was installation of the springs/alignment, etc.?

are there any other adjustments needed for the car after the suspension is installed? other than a realignment?

I seem to recall another part being needed for the steering....

I am pretty sure that's it. You should only need a realignment. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong though.

You should only need an alignment and that is it. I will be installing the kit myself as I have installed them in the past. The rear is easy. You just need to raise the car up on jack stands, remove a bolt from one end of each shock and then while someone is pushing down on the rotor with thier foot you can pull the old shock out and replace it with the new one. Repeat on the other side.

The front is a little tougher but only because you need to completely remove the front strut in order to replace the spring. If you don't want to bother farting around with a spring compressor you can just remove the struts and bring them to a shop and ask them to swap the springs for you. Should only cost $20-40 bucks.

That's a good idea. There's no chance of the spring coming loose (and killing you) if you take off the struts?

Steeda, $325 install and alignment, nothing else done after. Rides beautifully, stiffer but not obnoxious.

Dan, how much did the Steeda springs drop your car? I think I read they drop it roughly 3/4". The Eibach springs are 1.4" in the front, 1.1" in the rear. And John, please make sure to take nice side shot before/after pics, as well as obviously measuring before and after so we know how much the Eibach springs drops your car front and back. And I'd be curious to know ease of installing them on the '05 also. Springs are probably my next mod.

I have my own post of my before and after pics and results, basically drops the car around an inch or slightly more, and most importantly levels the car out. No regrets at all!!! Good luck!

Also interested in the pics and either set of springs, although I am leaning more to the Eibach for the slight slant from the front back.

Just got the car back from the installer and the Steeda springs dropped my car about 1 1/8" all the way around. Love the ride now. It is a lot stiffer now. I live in a very rural community and the roads that go from my house to the interstate make a very good test of the ride quality. My thumb is way up for these mods. When I launch now there is no more wheel bounce. Can't wait for the local strips to open up around here now!
