Ok, I think this is my first post. I'm going to be buying my first NEW Mustang very soon. I've had an 84-4 cyl. hatchback, an 86-6cyl. hatchback and currently drive a 95-GT. I fortunately will be able to take advantage of x-plan. My delema: How hard is it to find "spoiler deletes" on dealer lots? I have been looking at various dealer inventories and only one had one car with that listed on the sticker. Is it possible that some dealers would not list the "spoiler delete" option and I just need to call around instead of using the net? I want to put on a ducktail, but am impatient(I want an everlasting gobstopper now) and the thought of ordering one with the "spoiler delete" and waiting is a pull your hair out/get an ulcer proposition. How bad and expensive is it to remove, fill in screw holes and paint? Does the work last our does one quickly see circular cracks in the paint where the screws used to be? The Cervini ducktail would be nice to put on. I know that Fang Performance will be coming out with a complete trunk lid complete with built-in ducktail center section, but does anyone have a guess as to how much that will cost? Speaking of Fang, like many of you, I am salivating at their Mystery 8 and even the 7. Thanks for reading the long read.

In my observations it seems that almost all dealers order Mustangs with spoilers, since it doesn't cost any more that way. If you can order on the x-plan and really want a Mustang without a spoiler my recommendation would be to order exactly what you want, take a chill pill, and wait it out. Waiting for your new car is a temporary annoyance, running around with a car outfitted not to your desires is a problem that can last years (especially when you see a car on the street that's just the way you like it). On a secondary note, CDC has a kit with their ducktail spoiler to cover up the spoiler holes with some billet brackets. Not the best option in my opinion, but it's an option. Good luck!

I don't think you'll find any spoiler deletes on dealer lots. Like Ken said, the dealers order them with the spoilers since it is free. Actually, when I ordered mine, my sales guy kind of hesitated on ordering it w/out the spoiler. I guess he thought that if I backed out, it would be tough to sell a GT w/out spoiler, what a joke.

Anyway, I say wait it out, get what you want, the spoiler delete is the way to go! I was originally going to get an After Market spoiler, but I've fallen in love with the sleek look of no spoiler.

I agree, the best bet to get a spoiler delete is to order it yourself. Yeah, the wait is tough, but depending on your dealer, wait times are going down.

Another option is to go ahead and buy one now off the lot with a spoiler and then ask your dealer if you can swap it out for a spoiler delete decklid on one they may get in later.

I've read at least a few instances of people buying cars with spoiler deletes off the lot.

Probably the best thing to do is find a dealer willing to do an xplan deal and see if they can find a 13D car on a lot somewhere. If they can't find one they will order it for you, it seems the backlog of demand has died down a bit and you can get one in 6-8 weeks.

I ordered spoiler delete and the darn thing came with the spoiler, I wanted a ducktail so it just forces me to get the 3DCarbon instead of a SSE or CDC.

Yup I ordered one with the spoiler delete and it came with a spoiler as well.

I suspect that what Marc said is true. They order it with the spoiler "just in case."

I asked the dealer to swap out the trunk and she did. Otherwise I don't know... I may have had to wait even longer.

If I were you... get what you want, you're paying enough for the thing, might as well get it the way you want it.

Maybe a dealer would be willing to swap out the trunk lid with a V6 that doesnt have a spoiler. The selling point would be now a V6 has a spoiler which adds sale value to them. Worth a shot if you find your dream GT on the lot. I'm just killin time waiting for mine to be built.
