Thumbs up

So when are the prices going to come down on
the sequential lights? I just cant bring myself to
pay the kind of markup these things have right now.

Am I dreaming? Looks like $6 worth of parts.

How much did you pay for yours?

Anyone get theirs for less than $70?

I agree. I wish I could find the thread where a member on this site did it himself with like $5 in parts from the autoparts store or Radioshack, don't remember which. I think I could do it myself too.

I was looking to contact someone who bought the item from them and bput it on a 05, but the feedback is all from earlier model owners... think I will wait until I see a + feedback from a 05 Stang owner.

I paid about $160.00 for mine. I know what you mean about the parts not looking that expensive, but hey, the guys have to make money somewhere when it comes to warranty repairs, etc.... I am in the computer business and even though there is not much markup on the parts we charge a lot for labour because we need to make a profit somewhere in order to help cover costs of replacing defective units.

Just keep in mind that not all kits are equal. I highly doubt the $60.00 kit uses the same parts as a $150.00 kit. I want my kit to work properly and last for years, not months.

Edit: I just looked at that site. Not sure what parts they use but I opted for the kit that includes the harness. Sure, a good chunk of coin went into that harness but if I ever have a problem with the kit I can just swap harnesses.

was it just a matter of unplugging harnesses or did youhave to cut wires?

the one that I purchased was just a simple taking out the old harness and putting the lights in the new harness. Really simple, plug and play at its finest! I was happy that I didnt have to cut wires.

I emailed that fella on ebay about the actual sequence fo the lights. He said they are able to make the sequence as fast or as slow as I wanted with a custom flash rate. Also, he states that the harness or wiring is within the carpet of the trunk as opposed to on the back of the light, which could ruin with weather exposure. I don't know though. A light set $100 cheaper than some of the best known. I'll wait for someone else to buy the one from ebay.

I did have 2 sets for my 02.
First set lasted less than a year (inbetween tailight and trunk) and was due to the weather.
**note, they were a cheaper set

Back then I did all the splicing. Not hard, but you have to follow the wiring map, and splice in an inner light with 3rd wire. Too about an hour total, but the kit was cheap.

Went with Web Electrics, no problems.
Theres mounts on the inside of the trunk.
(that too I had to do all the splicing myself)

05 kit is plug/play, already ready to go.
And you get money back for sending your old harness back.

As a sidenote,
Flash units are on the pre 05 mustangs (they'd give you a replacement blink-controller(flasher unit) that you replaced with the factory one under the dash. This slowed down the blink rate)

The 05s, from what I have read, have no 'flasher unit' and its computer controlled. So for now, it blinks at one rate...which people may find fast, but they still look good.
That being said, I'm sure eventually someone will hack the system and find a way to slow down the blink rate.

The guy may never have seen an 05. None of the kits are mounted on the back of the light. They are all mounted behind the plastic panel in the trunk. To make the flash rate different is just using a different resistor, nothing major there. Better kits will use a few different options. For now, just remember that the signals are computer controlled (not flasher) so the back ones go off the same time as the front. It will be interesting to see how they make them flash faster, slower is easy, faster, well I have no idea.........

B) We got the webproducts kit. No splicing, or new flasher replacement required. Simple remove and replacement of both harnesses; took about 25 minutes to install. Got $40 "core" charge back within 2 days of returning my original harness. Guess it's all what you want and willing to pay for. I don't trust a lot of the "cheap" stuff on e-bay and willing to pay a little more to get known quality products.

FYI, I purchased the kit from the dude on eBay a couple days ago. However, he later refunded me my money with an explanation that Ford had changed the wiring on the 2005, so it wasn't the same as the earlier mustangs. I knew this myself. If they were the same, I would've kept the sequentials from the Mach1 that I traded in on the 2005, which I originally installed on my 2001 Bullitt for $60. B)

Anyhow, the dude was a good businessman and refunded my money. Today, I ordered my sequentials from WebElectronics.

How do the brake lights work? I would like to have sequential turn signals but have the brake lights work normally. Is that how the webelectronics system works?

Adrenalin. Didn't you get yours from WebElectrics? How did you get the $160.00 price. Any names dropped?? I added a comment about how he was highly recommended on this site and asked if he offered a discount for members. He e-mailed me saying he got my order. And sent another today saaying they are on their way. But made no mention of the discount. Mine were $179.00 with the option to return the "core".

B) Brake lights sequence once from inner to outer and them all 3 stay bright. Of course they will sequence each time you hit the brakes. It is really subtle on the brake light sequence, definitely noticeable on turn signals and 4-way flashers. Posts I've seen with video is not really that representative of how they look. They look much better in real time

Now don't they have a delay for when you are in traffic? I thought that when you keep hitting the brakes, they won't "burst" unless there is a 3 second space between braking. Does that make sense????

B) When I installed they did a single burst every time we hit the brakes. Didn't sit there pumping the pedal so can't say about any delay, but I know we did several brake applications witin less than 3 seconds ... but why worry, if in heavy traffic it'll only get the drivers attention behind you.... which is a good thing.
